This guy gets it. I do understand not liking the ending of the anime your first time watching it since its quite the gut punch, but it really is amazing though since theres less of a foundation in the movies it might not translate as well to newcomers.

It's the GOAT manga/anime which has inspired a lot of media, most famously the souls series. There are three movies on Netflix that cover the same events as the 97 anime but more abbreviated, and of course theres the manga. Avoid the new cg series like the plague though.

And here I was shaking my head more at equating a manipulative deep dive into Griffiths psyche as a "trash acid trip".

It'll take time though and I hope the fanbase doesn't stress the assistants out to the point of alienation since right now those who were closest to Miura are undoubtedly working through their grief.
That is if it's true. I don't know if it is. I don't even know if Miura himself knew how berserk was going to end yet. All we can do is wait and hope for the best.
I always told myself, the only way miura could've finished berserk in a hurry, is if when the gang gets off the island, griffith and everyone would already be dead of old age since time flows differently. Problem solved. The end.

His hawk crew didn’t agree to be sacrificed. As a matter of fact they are there because Guts was there to save Griffith. That led to him finding the egg again.

He then made the choice in front of the demons to sacrifice everyone there. All those characters that gave their lives to serve in his army. Did whatever he asked.

He sacrificed everyone in the most horrific way

Then he rapes Casca in front of Guts. Who saved him from the torture chamber and accomplished so much for him over the years.

I don’t think your mind is operating correctly if you empathize with Griffith.

Causality isn't 100%. Some defy causality, like guts. He was meant to die as a sacrifice yet he still lives. Skullknight was never supposed to interrupt the eclipse party either, but he did.
griffith had a choice. The godhand member had to convince him to sacrifice by showing him his past and the path that was required to give him his own kingdom. he willingly chose to sacrifice his band of the hawk.

The band of the hawk joined griffiths army. However they didn't join to die for griffith.
Each had their own reason to be in the band of the hawk. One wanted to have his own tailor business. The other wanted to promote rank so he could marry his girlfriend who wouldn't marry a common soldier.
This was all explained during the bonfire of dreams moment.

Griffith is evil. Having his soldiers die in the war while having a fighting chance is 1 thing. Sacrificing them to their deaths is a whole other thing.

Correct. It is the epitome of evil.

Being a sociopathic killer of strangers is evil

But sacrificing your best friends and the very people that saved your life is on another level.

To anyone wanting to give it a try, this is where I started. This is a blending of the 97 anime with the 2012 movies, so the art goes back and forth but all the VAs are the same. You get used to it and holy cit the 3rd act makes Game of Thrones look like Willy Wonka. They took a lot of the character moments from the longer more fleshed out anime and stuck it in to the more abridged movies, honestly it works fairly well for me.

Its long, but it's 3 movies worth of story. You don't need to watch it all at once.

If you like it, obviously the manga is better and the best way to take this in

I know, it’s amazing and compelling.

I didn’t say I empathized with him, dipchit. I’m saying the idea that Griffith is a bad guy doesn’t mean the show is bad. Do you know what an antagonist is?

imo because the ending is a complete clusterfuk.

I only watched the 3 movies.

1. 0 conclusion

2. Confusing Gods and random skull on horse came out of nowhere to save Guts. Character was too convenient. Wasn’t developed.

3. Pure agony with 0 reward. Basically watched a cuckold, zombie sex with cannibalism and insane gore with that non conclusive ending. It’s like a slayer song. It just isn’t high art.

I heard about it. Damn, may he rest in peace. I watched the anime first then read the Manga to follow up.

The 2016 and 2017 versions of the anime are actually pretty good once you get hooked. I really hope someone can continue his vision for the manga, this is a story I HAVE to see the end of.

They are generally faithful I'll give them that, but compared to the OG anime and the source material they just come up very short in the production department.

Agreed, the 2016-2017 anime is shadowed by the first anime production.

I will say the new series is great when its hand drawn, and the opening makes you think you're in for that kind of experience. Just very wasted potential.

I'm a bit biased against it too since Berserk is my favorite media and the new series existing means when I recommend it I always need to add the caveat to avoid it since even if it was amazing it would undeniably not be the right place to start the series.

lmfao at his assistant coming out years after the fact to say he knows the full story.
