My 2nd great grandfather went down there to fight in the 2nd Seminole War.
Another 2nd great grandfather moved the family to Florida. He was soon found drowned in a ditch, and his widow moved the family back to Georgia.

Tourist season. Not looking forward to it.

I've basically already given up on the beach on weekends.

Probably somewhere upstate in NY instead, though; I can't go back to living around hoodlums and bums.
Come to think of it, I kinda like that too having grown up in Norcal all my life. I'm looking to move to Socal or Florida for school.

I honestly can't think of many downsides. I've been everywhere in the US, and I've lived all over too. Florida and Arizona are far and beyond my favorite places, and I'd move to either given the chance.

I can't blame all the people saying **** off we're full, so many people are flooding into both from blue chitholes at the moment. People seem to have finally figured out how underrated both were.

It's the people.

You have your old people, which are the conservatives who keep the state Red.

After that, the state is almost entirely made up of New York Libs, joggers, and people who speak some form of Spanish as their primary language. . Like literally everybody the misc complains about all day long are the exact people making up the majority of Florida's population.

When the first group dies, the state is going to flip blue hard af.

Have fun with that, millions of mosquitos, giant cockroaches, and sweaty crotches from 90+ Degree weather and awful humidity.

I've lived in central Florida for 3+ years now having moved from Wisconsin (was there 21yrs). The only thing I miss is the WI summer weather. We're an hour to the east coast, 45 minutes to the gulf coast, an hour to Orlando and a bit more to Tampa. We're not in a hurricane evacuation zone and the last big hurricane that went up the gulf coast was no big deal in the middle of the state. The sun was shining and no clouds the next day. When it's hot/humid, we do indoor things. The rest of the time we're outside. No regrets moving here.

Come on in, but leave liberal politics where you come from.

Never had roach problems because, pest control service. Hate the love bugs, but the spring invasion wasn't bad this year because we had prolonged winter "cold" weather that got into the upper 30s at night.
A democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. And that's why the USA is a constitutional republic and not a democracy.
