Socrates himself once said:

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

doesn't that remind you of boomers talking about millennials and zoomers?

@OP, I have only one thing to say to you:

Not sure what you mean about last generation though.
I meant with total deaths last year, we would have had an excess regardless of Covid. Death numbers SHOULD be going up at this time, with a 78 year average life expectancy and considering the world wide crash and then the huge boom in the 40's. The demographics alone would have given us higher deaths this last year ..& a couple to come..with an expectation of it rising over the next three or four years based solely on the fact that those born at the height of the post-war boom (1946-1952) are now reaching the statistical probability of death.

We would see a natural jump right now if only due to this fact of demographics alone.

As far as last generation, once they die off, the world ends.

Gen X here.

In my time we called the boomers "Yuppies".

They were susceptible to a culture of greed. Just like millennials.
However, their way of perusing that was working 60-70 hour weeks in their officecel jobs to climb the corporate ladder. Millennials are the same except you all have NO work ethic at all. Getting rich and greed to you is streaming yourself in a hot tub or shoving a carrot in your ass to become a "youtuber"

There are plenty of high paying jobs out there. I still get 3-4 emails a day asking if I would like to apply for a job. These are tech jobs. I don't have a tech degree. I just worked my ass off when I was young to get training and would spend my evenings when I got home learning to code. IRONICALLY (because op loves caps) They really do prefer younger people... millennials to do these jobs.

Now you say you can't buy a house. Oh yes you can Bret, oh yes you can. I'm looking at a 5 acre plot with a stream on it and a house. for 11k. That is not 111k that is 11 thousand dollars. I'd have to drive about a 1/2 hour into town... god forbid.

My 16 year old son has made about 2k this last year mowing lawns and working at as a cashier. (While goin to school as well)

Boomers didn't set out to do any damage. They wanted their kids and grand kids to have the best. They wanted to leave a decent legacy.

Here is what went wrong and why you millennials are complete bags of chit.
My generation didn't raise you right. We were too nice. We thought the world was on the mend and wanted you *******s to be "better" than we were.

Soooooooooooooo...
Now we have you parasites living with your parents still (most of us moved out between 18-22)

You have no social or interpersonal skills because most millennials were locked away in their rooms playing vidja that someone else provided for them. (We all had GFs going up... usually at least 3-4 between high school and going to work full time or going to college. We banged them. Even the betas had gfs.)

Most of us worked and went to school.
If we went to college we had student loans. I did. So it was a very obvious and important thing to everyone to try and get a practical degree.

Most of us had started families and were having kids ( you *******s) by 22 or 23.

Our social activities consisted of keggers, drag racing and other chaotic bs where we all gathered.
We paid for our cars ourselves. Most were POS but the cars worked.

IT NEVER OCCURED TO US THAT WE HAD TO BLAME SOMEBODY FOR US HAVING TO WORK OUR ASSES OFF TO GET THINGS WE WANTED. As we got older these things became houses and cars and etc.

Our parents (The boomers) usually both had jobs and the term "Latch Key Kids" was common. That meant you came home several hours before your parents came home from work and you had to fend for yourself.

In conclusion. millennials are:

-soft
-lazy
-inept
-amazingly intellectually lazy but somehow think they are not. All they do is echo what the like.
-amazingly stupid but they think they are Nicola Tesla and Einstein all rolled into one.
-physically soft, doughy and ugly
-No social skills. They barely know how to talk to each other.
-Victims. The boomers and gen x barely got treated for any kind of mental illness or psychological conditions. They were the real victims then.
- Think you are special, that you are smarter and better than everyone else but have never done one damn thing to prove it or contribute to society. Why? Because you are not special. You are just launchable loosers.

- Most of you have no idea how to get laid. Or even talk to the opposite sex.
- Biggest generation to ever live and be supported by their parents. Hey, if you are going to live with them get a job.

Boomers:
- Created the internet.
- Created video games.
- Created the catalytic converters to help clean up the air.
- Stopped strip mining for the most part.
- Created all the shows you watched growing up.
- Made farming cleaner and safer.
- Invented Cell Phones.
- Invented PC's
- Did try to keep land prices down by creating investment groups to communally own property
- There were "evil" companies back then just like today. Hey, go work at Amazon.

Bottom line. They didn't feel they "deserved" anything. Neither did my generation. We all realized improvement is a constant process. Some things were good. Keep them. Some things were bad try and weed them out.

Basically millennials are an entire generation of Smeagols who think they deserve the precious.

I agree younger generations are more lazy. But there's a reason(s) for that. Technology made them more lazy, cultural degeneration and of course the brutal economic truth that basic stuff like housing is almost unaffordable for most young people/

->In 1960, the median home value in the U.S. was $11,900

->For the country as a whole, the average (median) income of families in 1960 was $5,600

Older generations also getting older and younger generations inheriting at a much older age.

Nope:

In 2017, millennials were more likely to be employed and to work full time than nonmillennials. Seventy-nine percent of millennials were employed (65 percent full time), compared with 59 percent of nonmillennials (48 percent full time).

https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/2019/ar...illennials.htm

It's not as simple as "they're just lazy bro". The economy and culture has changed immensely. Millenials are the working poor, no sh*t will more and more not care when they understand it's not worth the squeeze anymore...

Not everyone lived the same life, boomers for the most part grew up enjoying the fruits of the post-WWII economy. Although this definitely looks very different for Britain which was bombed. I don't think this discounts my dad's accomplishments, but times have changed and are always changing. Some people have parents who treat them like chit as well, are they obligated to respect them?

You say you had every opportunity, never struggled, and were given support in starting a business. How can you determine who worked harder and who didn't? You are projecting the insecurities of your personal advantages on others. Some things are easier, but some things are harder. Things are definitely a lot more complicated and far less affordable than they once were.
Let me be clear, I had the same advantages as EVERYONE else in a 1st world country. Free education. Student loans a to get you through university. And my business was funded by myself. I worked a chitty job driving a van and saving that money until I had enough clients on the side to quit that job.

My work now is something I completely learned online, completely detached from the engineering degree I took in school. Which basically shows that anyone can do anything. Now I run multiple businesses and earn mid 6-figures. I’m not flexing, I’m just saying how easy it is if you actually put some work into it.

My dad had to work so hard for his money and opportunities like this didn’t come that easy.

The support I got from my parents are in terms of moral support. None of us were ever discouraged from pursuing what we wanted. When I decided to quit unit and work chitty jobs, they were fine with that. When I decided to go back to Uni at 23, they were fine with that too. I got some pocket money but could have easily did without. I think it’s very important that you have people believe in your ideas/dreams, specially your parents, success or failure. My failures were never held against me.

Today’s generation literally have 0 excuse for lack of success. I honestly can’t think of any. Can you?

I mean what prevented you from being a doctor, engineer, lawyer? Specially in the UK where Uni is more or less free. This is coming from someone who took Uni education for granted. What did you want to become or do that you couldn’t do, what was the obstacles put in front of you?

My father didn’t get college education, that’s 1 obstacle, a major one that I can think of that would have prevented him from becoming anything he wanted. I didn’t have that obstacle, and so did 99.9% of those in the UK.

Truth is neo liberal capitalism/globalism fcked everyone outside of the higher class. Not just millenials are getting ****ed (although they and gen Z are fcked the most) even the older middle class is getting fcked and is shrinking.

So much truth to this.

When Rich and I strolled the great plains of youth there were but two genders. If you had a beef with someone you took it to the parking lot instead of slinging lead. A typical day was spent outside with your boyos not in front of some screen with ridiculous headphones on yelling at someone you've never met. You actually had to leave the house and talk to girls in person. And you actually had to have game with the ladies to get anywhere.

The current gens would be phuking lost in the GOAT 80's and 90's.
Early AM workout crew.
Holy crap dude, Satan's huge crew.

That's because I'm not a self-entitled brat who thinks life is so hard. I had everything handed to me in the same way YOU had everything handed to you, and so did everyone else in the western world.

No one who is born in the US/UK outside of the tragic situations for the 1% has had obstacles to success. I recognise that, as a millennial, we grew up in the most privilege era ever, and Gen Z even more.

I was working 60hr weeks for the first 3 years of running a business, selling a skill that matters to businesses (not critical race theory bs). How many of new gen can actually claim they took their shot but there was too many obstacles?
