Has the news always been corrupt?

Or did the Internet/Social media fukk it all up?

For example, in the 50's-60's... were news networks actually being honest and not selling out, or has it just always been BS?

It may have always been corrupt, but at least it wasn't always so toxic. Before you had to find stories to fill a certain block. Once 24hr news came along, they started running out of chit to report on and had to basically start finding bullchit to fill in the time where nothing important was going on.

Rush Limbaugh was screaming about media bias since the 1980's, so there's nothing new about the current iteration of liberal media bias. And fifteen to twenty years ago, it was Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity on AM talk radio leading the charge against media bias. Newcomers to politics are only just hearing about it now due to either youth or because social media has brought it into everybody's pocket.

But if you want to see what it looked like historically, take a college history class srs. Or just Google "yellow journalism" in the early-to-mid twentieth century.

Or look up how the media treated early American presidential candidates.

As long as there has been money to be made by taking a side, there has been corruption. This shouldn't be a surprise.
