Parents with fat children

So many people start their kids off from a young age by training them to eat like total garbage. High sugar cereals/other breakfast foods with refined grains and zero nutritional value beyond a vitamins they add to them, adding half a stick of butter to any vegetable they make for the kids, constantly buying them sodas, sweets, and other junk foods, etc. Not to mention training their kids that playing on a smart device is more fun than doing something active like them going to a playground, riding a bike, just going for a walk, etc.

Then they wonder why their kids get fat. Usually they'll blame "genetics" or some bs to keep the blame off of themselves for being chitty parents who taught their kids to live a fatty lifestyle for years. They usually then teach this mentality to the kids as well, which only makes it more difficult for the kids to wake up and make positive lifestyle changes for themselves as they get older.

Kids who grow up being fat before they even hit high school age always end up dealing with weight issues for the rest of their lives. Some handle it better and more consistently than others, but even the ones who get healthy and remain living a healthy lifestyle as adults end up having to put a lot more effort and focus into it than if they would have had parents who didn't train them to be addicted to junk foods and chit from a young age.

Child abuse at its finest. It's disgusting and makes me rage seeing a fat kid as of course they don't know any better. Poor kids have to suffer with that rest of their lives because of their fat ass lazy parents. You know it would be hard for them to change the way they eat too as they turn into adults.

I don't know how people do it I have a hard time just getting them to eat enough to gain normally and I'm starting my sons morning off with a weight gainer shake for max cals

To have a fat kid with their activity level you would need to force feed them sugar all day

The subtlest form of child abuse.

They fill their kids minds with lazy and unhealthy ideologies to fuk their kids up physically, then the kids at school pick on them and fuk them up mentally. These kids are broken before they even have a chance to live their lives.

These kinds of parents should absolutely be arrested.

Oftentimes the parents are fat too and the kids are indoctrinated into the unhealthy lifestyle. It's a cycle of abuse and addiction for sure.

Seeing so many fat kids infuriates me. It is setting these health conditions and behavior for the rest of their lives. Against their will. Even worse when the parents are in shape and the kids are obese. Willful neglect and abuse.

I don't feed my son the best diet. He just refuses to eat so I tend to let him eat what he wants which is mainly those sausage on a stick things but he's tall for his age and closer to underweight than over. He takes after me for sure on that. It's also my fault he's such a picky eater because I was too when I was little

I had a cousin over last night. Their 4 year old is easily 100 lbs.

He chugs Coke as if it's his milk bottle. The mom is uneducated so it's expected that her son isn't going to be the healthiest.

It's weird because kids have fast metabolisms and *should* be much more active than adults.

My daughter never had fast food until another family took her there when she was 10. She was a picky eater and it was hard to get her to eat beyond peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and to eat veggies. But I guess most kids don't like veggies.

Now she's anorexic though at 16 and just eats a protein bar for breakfast, no lunch and dinner and runs 6-8 miles a day. She lost 40 lbs in a year and size 0 jeans are huge on herThere's also the other side of the coin which is an eating disorder.

Now I wonder if we ate TOO healthy. I also had anorexia and was hospitalized for it so she could have picked up on my food fears.

Obesity is now victimhood. Whenever you victimize bad behavior, it makes the behavior worse.

The feminist movement started this, and the Obama admin played in to it for power.

I met a 14 yo 201 pound female with a skinny mom. The fat kid was on antidepressants. That was really wierd.

Another was a 12yo 260 pound female on antidepression medication. Her brother was normal and skinny so idk what was going on.

I stopped buying and eating sugary foods to set an example for my kids. No more soda or cake or cookies or chips allowed in this house.

Yeah, seems likely if the kid is truly morbidly obese.

IMO it isn't as straight forward of an issue as it may seem on the surface. Some kids tend to chub up more than others and parents can take the whole food thing too far either direction- all crap all the time or only "healthy" food/making food a moral issue.

I was a fat kid and the way the adults in my life dealt with it wasn't great for me. If I look back at my childhood pics now I don't actually look fat by present standards. My guess is I tend toward thickness and was one of those kids that got wider before getting taller + I was my adult size around age 13.

What I think my parents got right was the exposure to a wide variety of foods, sit down meals at a table, and a moderate amount of "junk". Most of our meals had meat/veg/carbs and we didn't have sugary cereal or soda in the house, but we would have chips with a sandwich, 2-3 cookies after lunch, a dessert after Sunday dinner, fast food or pizza maybe once a week, an ice cream cone now and then, etc.

What didn't work for me was a lot of guilt/shame around weight and being singled out for it when my eating and activity was essentially the same as my brother's. I ran around the neighborhood, rode my bike, played soccer, and went roller skating. But I just tend to be heavier and started being put on diets when I was around 12.

There are a few kids I know that are very fat and these kids have parents that are either extremely lazy or extremely busy. Lazy parents are usually also fat and out of shape and don't care what their kids do. Busy parents often make excuses for their fat kids (metabolic disorder usually).

I also find these parents enable their kids, not only with food and unhealthy habits, but with everything. (Oh haha, she doesn't like dogs = No, she's 13 and having a complete meltdown over a pomeranian that's 30 feet away. That's not normal)

I'm not a perfect parent by any means, but my kids are always provided with 3 good meals and ample healthy snacks in the house. We also keep things like chips and cookies and ice cream which they are allowed to have occasionally. My kids are all active and all on the skinny side.

I'm going to be perfectly honest and I love shoving this into idiot fuk other parents face:

It's easy as fuk to feed your kids healthy. Start them healthy. Make it all they know and they won't have an alternative. My boy will eat raw broccoli and asparagus. It's hilariously easy. I got this from my parents who never gave us fast food and who didn't give us any junk except SunnyD. Lazy fuk parents want to give their kids chips and soda because it doesn't require any prep. Good job giving your kids diabeetus imbeciles.

My only difficulty is with my SO who thinks chips and ice cream and candy are a treat we shouldn't deny our kids. Ok. That's not a meal tho and I get bent when my kids are sharing a can of Pringles. Tossing that chit.

Agree with above^. They don’t know what they’re missing if they’ve never had crap food to start.

Sadly most fat kids have fat parents. The fat parents have fat friends, and they have fat kids. So that’s all they see. To them it’s “normal”. Next thing you know you see little butterballs huffing n puffins about to have a heart attack at age 6 while trying to waddle down the toy isle.

I do allow my kids some pre packaged snacks, but in moderation. They’re also never used as a tool to help with their feelings. There is no emotional eating in our house. You eat to live.

Don't forget calves of the Gods. You can do calf raises for 3 hours a day and your calves will still suck compared to some dude who was overweight for years. I wouldn't worry about height though. You have to be north Korea levels of poverty eating to not grow. My little brother would eat like once every 2 days when we were growing up and he's taller than me

Chubby kids are fine. Some kids just hold chubbyness more than others. I’ve got one that holds a littl extra weight but hasn’t hit the big growth spurt that’s about to happen within the next 2 years. We eat mostly healthy and are active but I’m not going to make a big deal out of food as long as it’s within reason.

It’s the truly obese kids that I find sad. It’s not just kid chubby it’s all out fat status. And the parents usually look the same for sure. I just teach my kids it’s ok to eat junk food in moderation at times but it shouldn’t be an everyday occurrence. I won’t deny them snacks if it’s been a while or make them get a salad at a burger place if glee got in to eat somewhere because 90% of the time I cook home cooked meals with meat and veggies.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.
Makes me feel eternal, all this Pain is an Illusion.

As someone else already stated its a cycle created and passed down from generations just like abuse.

The majority of obese people I know have always been obese, the few people I've known who start to become overweight do something about it like going on a diet.

Most people are lazy af, their logic is "I worked all day, I don't want to go to the gym", so they sit on the couch and watch tv and eat junk food.

If I was in charge parents with fat children would be executed by firing squad, srs, but since I am such a nice person I would give one warning first, and parents would have three months to show progress,

This is the way. Except replace poverty raw vegetables with high quality beef organs, meats, bone broths, and raw milk.

Fixing a picky eater is easy as well, assuming both parents are on board. It usually only takes 1-2 days and a little fasting on their part and a lot of willpower on the parent's part (usually the mom's).

I believe letting your kids eat sugary cereal everyday for breakfast when they are young sets them up for failure. Never was into that chit, won't let my kids be either.
