They're the main characters smoothbrain. This is basically the Order 66 of the Game of Thrones Universe.

Rob is the classic military leader/hero and about to get married to his pregnant "true love", all very likeable by the audience, then his entire family gets killed in a surprise twist. Just watching a 10 minute clip on YouTube doesn't really explain the buildup over multiple seasons with these characters.
