This, make people name their top 10 movies and most likely at the (very very) least half, the main actor didn’t win.

Most of the time they did get their credit though, and DiCaprio certainly did in Wolf on Wall St., so I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “get the credit were it was due”

Jake Gyllenhaal - Nightcrawler
James McAvoy - Split
Matt Dillion - The House That Jack Built
Vincent Gallo - Buffalo 66
Ted Levine - Silence Of The Lambs
Ed Norton - American History X
Robert De Niro - Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro - Cape Fear

There are tons more that could be listed, Norton was nominated for American History X and De Niro was nominated for Taxi Driver and Cape Fear but they didn’t win.

Dude has incredible range, can be incredibly serious, dramatic, funny, intriguing. He plays vastly different characters in all his movies. In the Revenant he barely even spoke and his performance was totally captivating. He is not overrated, he is rated exactly as he should be - at the absolute top.

That movie was great. Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely up there and I agree gets overlooked. Have never seen anything but a great performance from him.

Agreed on all counts! Totally forgot about BBall diaries but 10/10 performance (Leo's the king of the thread) & I almost said Norton in Primal Fear in my post.

As for Training Day, I'm pretty sure Denzel won...
