Right wing people are typically in states with more poverty, this is not exclusive to the US. It's like this all over the world.

Liberals tend to live in wealthier states and be more materialist / less religious. Poverty and religion or traditional values are directly correlated.

All the red states have smaller economies, lower populations, and more religious people with traditional values. The blue states have the largest cities and highest economic output.

The power struggle is that while the most essential farming is what supplies the food that we need to eat, it is not very profitable and occurs in red states. Highly profitable industries like finance or software generate a lot of revenue, but it's not physically providing meals like farmers do.

So the conservative party represents the farmers and the suburbanites and wealthy businessmen that are allied with them. The liberal party represents the city people and the suburbanites and wealthy businessmen that are allied with them. It functions the same way in Germany and throughout the entire first world.

West Virginia is listed here as the whitest state, but it also has one of the most intense histories of poverty and multi-racial labor alliances. Right now it is experiencing an opioid epidemic and widespread poverty from the closing of the coal industry.

West Virginia has a long history of radical political movements among poor white workers. It is probably the heart of the American labor struggle. White people at the bottom of the economic ladder are not convenient for politicians or for the government. Liberals will ignore them and conservatives will act like they care. Much like how conservatives ignore poor minorities and liberals act like they care.

The only people in Appalachia who truly cared and made a lasting difference politically were people with anti-government and anti-corporate views. West Virginians led the largest armed uprising since the Civil War by fighting against the government and coal companies, but this history is typically suppressed for political reasons.

I went to WVU in 2007-2008. Must’ve been those black, out of state college students who pushed their numbers up a bit. But yea it was mostly white. When I went off campus I felt like I was in that movie Wrong Turn. Those hillbillies/rednecks lived up to every white trash stereotype you could think of. They were mostly nice, but not exactly people you wanted to be around. Most students came in from Virginia and New Jersey. Man that place was a sh!thole but that university was ranked the #1 party school in the nation my freshmen year.

They actually have a monorail system that takes you up through the mountains and back. From the dorms to the bars too. It was like Disney World for college students. But I’m glad I only spent 3 semesters there because that atmosphere was impossible for me to get any work done.

To address this post about the meth, I’ve never in my entire life seen anyone sell or using meth. Not even in West Virginia. And I was in a fraternity where drugs were rampant. I’m sure it’s around, but for some reason I just never hear about it. Only just prescription ********, concerta, vyvanse, etc. all those ADD uppers. at least you know what you’re getting with those.
