I don't think my body can handle lifting heavy anymore.

Anytime I try to push my body on say 90% of my 1rm on squats, deads, or rack pulls my hip flexors/ lower back always hurt. I don't know what it is. Last time I did rack pulls I worked up to 550 and finished the rep and immediately after I had a shooting pain in my lower back. Had to stop lifting for a week and heal up.

Yesterday doing squats warming up. Working my way up and hit 345 easily but as soon as I finished that set I started getting that pain again. I feel like I should get it looked at, but I don't know who I should go and see. I love moving heavy weight but it's getting to the point where I don't even want to try and go above 300 on anything.

Future me would tell young me never to do stupid chit like squats, deadlifts, and standing military press. Not worth at all what it does to your back in the long run after many years.

I would tell my 18 year old self to learn to properly deadlift. I used to be able to pull crazy weight with **** form. It's catching up now.

I incorporate yoga into my stretching. I'VE always wanted to try a chiropractor but I hear differing opinions.

I love lifting heavy

I love it in BJJ when someone gets on top of me and I just bench press a much bigger person off of me.

The Olympic lifts have definitely helped with the explosion for takedowns and lifting people up then slamming them. Or grabbing someones Gi and flipping them.

Rotate weeks between heavier and then more moderate weight with higher reps. Your joints will thank you

Does it hurt when you walk?

I’m curious if it’s sciatica.

What age are you?

Just move on to bodybuilding and calisthenics rather than power lifter chit. You have a small waist and bodybuilders with smaller waists always get lower back chit.

Like Eddie Hall. how can you have abs and still look this chit and blocky?

Feels bro. We flew too close to the sun.

I've been exploring other avenues. Climbing. (JUST LOL @ a big mfker like me trying to climb). Triathlon ect.

It's refreshing not taking myself and numbers so seriously. I know my body feels better.

Those exercises you mentioned are hardest to my lower back.

Can you try to do front squats instead for a while?

I turn 32 in a couple weeks and don't touch deads, squats, or bb bench due to injuries and joint issues. Sucks man. Definitely do not ignore your pain and try to push through.

Take a couple weeks off from working out/going to the gym and give your body some time to recover. Then go back at it, and if you still have the same problem then see a Doctor.

Yeah I may just have to drop the weight and really focus on the mind muscle connection and make every single rep count.

I'm guilty of never really doing this beforehand.

I do front squats on my day 2 leg day and never have issues.

Once I hit my 30s I felt a slow down in my recovery time.

By my mid 30s I could still have great output and still lift heavy but I realize it wasn't worth the price to deal with DOMS plus life gets in the way.

In my late 30s I still train at least 3x a week and incorporate Olympic lifts which are technical and scalable lifts that offer me a great athletic benefit.

I've also reconsidered doing more metabolic conditioning, cardio, and I've done yoga with my gf a few times but I should do it more.

IMO you should redefine your fitness goals if you're hitting a roadblock or take some time off.

I know mobility routines pre-lifting have fallen out of style but that chit legit keeps me bulletproof srs

T-spine extensions on a hard roller
IT-band rolling
10 hip circles in each direction
10 shoulder circles in each direction

Works every time I remember to do it

This is the one thing I miss about working out in a commercial gym. Way less injuries when I was using a lot more machines vs. all free weights at home.

my serious response though is it is likely one of these:

weak glutes, the number one factor attributed to lower back pain. Strengthen them back up and work on bracing with the glutes.

Water retention, water retention in the lower back can cause very painful lower back pumps and spasms.

Anterior pelvic tilt, tight hip flexors and psoas leading you to put undue stress on the lumbar
