We are currently in the process of improving the overall forum experience and making several changes to prepare for bigger system wide modifications. The changes made most recently restricted the Misc section to users that were already active in the Misc and require a login to view/post in an effort to clean up spam/bots.

The next phase of changes taking place are described below:
Archiving Old Content

We will be archiving older, less-trafficked content to improve performance and support the transition of future forum experience. To clarify, this will not affect the large popular chat threads.
Please keep an eye out as we will continue to announce any changes that are made to the forums. If you have feedback, please let us know in this thread so it can be heard.

That's pretty cool that the forum is being actively worked on.

It does seem like a lot of spam/bots/alts have been cleared, like purging a virus from the host.

There are a number of doomsayers, but if you look at the numbers the site is growing.

So will we continue to be hidden from the public? It's been nice not having to be careful clicking on every thread for fear of seeing disgusting gay pron gifs but I'd understand opening it back up to get new members. Maybe some type of probationary period for new posters where you can't make new threads or post links

imo the actual thread view counts havent really decreased despite the forum going private. only thing different is the lack of spambots making troll threads every Nth day

So i dont actually think this was about keeping out the altmaxxing crew, but more about increasing organic traffic for whatever reason
