You guys did take anthropology classes right?

Like most “stats” and “facts” it’s likely slightly exaggerated or a data point slightly outside the norm, but if you understand human functions, the concept that a highly intense intellectual activity with a requirement of continual focus is a huge user of calories isn’t just plausible, it’s factual.

The constant hand movements, etc. add a little mustard, but it’s the brain generally crushing calories.

Sounds legit . No amount of antro pology pseudo science bull**** will convince me that chess players burn 6k in a match of chess lmao.

Only way you are burning 6k calories on a 12 hour chess game it’s if your name is Brian Shaw, and that’d have little to do with the chess.

Your checkmating technique should be instinct. Practice tactics often. Learn how to play positionally. Improve opening play and endgame play. Chess.com offers many courses with a membership, Lichess is a great free source.
