Why do we drink milk?
Srs. Why do we drink other animal milk and when we can't for "reasons " we try to find alternatives in plants and nuts. Why?

I honestly dunno. I only use milk when I'm cooking something that requires it. Cows milk is for baby cows the same way human breast milk is for baby humans. The alternatives (almond, soy, oat milk) are garbage, btw.
but probably because people still want to pour something in their cereal

Romus and Remulus drank the milk of a mother wolf to survive in the harsh wilderness before founding Rome.

I think it served as a pretty reliable and healthy (high fat content) food source when we learned to domesticate animals. Then it just kinda stuck around.
But honestly I'm just talking out of my ass.

Cost and availability.
Traditionally milk was readily available and affordable to the poor and provided calories, calcium, and protein, all of which had great benefits for those who had little access to such a variety that we have today. People burned many more calories than we do today too

I avoid milk and beef myself. I'm pretty certain I have an allergy to cows.
From what I've read, our ancestors didn't consume much dairy it seems. Milk was seasonable, only available for a short time of the year. And dairy spoiled quickly without refrigeration. The dairy that was consumed more often, butter and cheese, were low in milk sugar, lactose, and tended to last longer. I guess it used to be that some people would make fun of those that consumed milk and milk products.

There is no need to drink milk as an adult and any of the cliche benefits peddled to you during your childhood are all easily replaced with a normal diet. I mean there's nothing wrong with it being a small ingredient for enjoyment of taste or in a coffee if you wish; it's not a SET rule but you definitely don't need to be guzzling it down every day.

It's late July in the year of our Lord 3429, you stumble upon the ruins of a giant rectangular steel facility. It's a rusted and collapsing structure made out of small steel dormitories, an overgrown and decayed sign in front of the structure reads "Amazon Living Center #023".
You venture further into the halls of the structure until you arrive on a sealed door labeled "Amazon Living Cube #815". After some cutting with your pocket laser knife, you manage to break the welded seal and enter the cube. You find a skeleton hunched over a keyboard and a flickering holo-display.
Next to the skeleton is a rusted steel feeding tube that extends from the ceiling. It's stained with ancient traces of some sort of white fluid. The holo-display is stuck on a loop, flickering an image of ancient American emperor Robo-Biden. He bleats on in a frail mechanical tone.
"Drink your nut milk you bigot."

Can't ever really definitively answer "why", but the simplest answer is just that it was favorable for whatever reason to have mutations that resulted in a persistence of lactase expression. There are many speculative reasons as to why this trait seemed to be selected for. Milk is food. Milk has nutrients. Milk is available if you're around cattle. Makes sense, right?

People drink cows milk because of how profitable of a product it is.
Marketing has made drinking another animals babies milk something normal.
Maybe in a 3rd world country where people are starving it make sense.
Cows milk is extremely disgusting. Filled with toxic chemicals and toxic hormones.
Its extremely addicting as well. I can't remember the name of the hormone that is in milk that keeps the calf from straying to far.
But humans clearly are equally affected by the hormone that keeps the baby cow from straying.
Milk is probably the most toxic product in the super market.
