Cows milk is extremely disgusting. Filled with toxic chemicals and toxic hormones.
Its extremely addicting as well. I can't remember the name of the hormone that is in milk that keeps the calf from straying to far.
But humans clearly are equally affected by the hormone that keeps the baby cow from straying.
Milk is probably the most toxic product in the super market.

Love milk and all dairy products, but as Iβve gotten closer to 30 I think Iβm becoming lactose intolerant as anytime I drink milk, yogurt or eat cheese I get horrible farts. Wut do misc? π«

Yogurt has no or very little lactose. Hard cheese should have none. Soft cheese such as mozzarella will have some.
Lactaid pills contain the lactase enzyme, which breaks down the lactose, the sugar that is the problem for your body.

usually intolerance doesn't present itself as "i think i might be", it's usually "i drank this milk now i'm violently spraying diarrhea for half an hour"

Because nutritional value
Because we eat beef
Because the cows we need to produce beef need to be milked and may as well use that milk for something

From what I've read, our ancestors didn't consume much dairy it seems. Milk was seasonable, only available for a short time of the year. And dairy spoiled quickly without refrigeration. The dairy that was consumed more often, butter and cheese, were low in milk sugar, lactose, and tended to last longer. I guess it used to be that some people would make fun of those that consumed milk and milk products.

I drink milk because I am genetically an alpha pastoralist, not a beta agriculturalist. Basis of diet should be meat, eggs and dairy for alphas like me, not plants.

Europeans developed the ability to digest large amounts of milk because nothing here grows in the winter and cows can produce a food source from hay and grass.

I love milk but I've always been scaremongered into not drinking it by the IGF hormones in it etc

People who raised cattle/herded goats thousands of years ago probably started using it because if it's good enough to turn a calf into a giant, healthy bull, they probably realized it had a lot of nutritional potential. As others have said, it was probably a lot harder to get enough calories and nutrients into your diet back then, so stuff like milk must have been coveted.
As for why Americans still drink it today, my guess would be that the dairy lobby had a lot to do with promoting the health benefits in order to sell, rather than waste, the tons of milk they produce. I also wonder if white Americans have always consumed it since they come from cultures that have traditionally used dairy products. So maybe it's a holdover. Do Asian countries consume much dairy? I would guess not since a lot of them are lactose intolerant.
