A dead body isn't a person anymore. That person is dead. Gone. No thoughts. No concept of being respected or disrespected. It's just rotting meat at that point. People who cared about that person when they were alive will remember them and respect who they were.
I said nothing about them being forgotten or being unworthy of respect.

I find the concept of what is done with a rotting piece of dead meat being "disrespectful" weird af.
I give absolutely not one single fuk about what happens to my body when I die and don't know why anyone else does either. My loved ones will remember me just fine.

Don't know why we put actual resources under the earth (or take up the space for that matter) to house a rotting corpse.

It's weird religious chit at this point. There are far more efficient ways to dispose of corpses.

I went to school with a guy that was literally named after Forrest srs. He was cool AF though. Kids at school would tell me about family members that were in the KKK but the kids themselves were always nice and treated me with respect. Interesting how that is. You can also probably guess where I live

To be fair, his documents weren't written by the victors, but a confederate state, before the war officially started.

It's an actual document written in 1861 in Texas, basically saying "those bastards won't leave us alone until we free our slaves, FUK THEM! They think whites and blacks are equal, FUK THEM!"

Now, I'm not here to defend Wincel.
I personally think the Civil war had to do with a lot more than slavery (though slavery was a huge factor). Though to be fair i'm rather ignorant of it all, as after whatever the fuk they teach of school I never paid any attention to civil war history. I just like reading discussions/arguments.

But Wincel is making an argument.. and you have not so far.

I'm just here to moderate.

Your analogy doesn't fit. It would if the document provided was written by the Union, but it was not. This would be more Akin to being a document written by Iraq, in your analogy.

I lived in the south briefly (I suppose not so briefly actually) as a kid. I know what I was taught. I was told all kinds of bs about why the war happened. Then I read the documents. I was shocked to see it really was about slavery. The south really did take up arms in defense of white supremacy. It is a point of great shame to the south and they try to erase the truth. But one need only look at their documents to see it clear as day.

This is just the backfire effect at work. They will double down and deny reality because the thought they were lied to and brainwashed is too uncomfortable.
