Fossil fuels will be exhausted by 2060 - we need to invest in renewable energy source

This is a huge issue, and we need to start acting now.
While fossil fuels were formed millions of years ago, we've only been using them for fuel for a fairly short period of time – just over 200 years. If we keep burning fossil fuels at our current rate, it is generally estimated that all our fossil fuels will be depleted by 2060.
A switch from fossil fuels - coal, petroleum, and natural gas - should be of utmost priority. We need to invest in clean, renewable energy sources, like solar, wind, hydro, tidal, geothermal, and biomass.

Keeping emissions down is really important too. Climate change is very real, and we need to ensure the sustainability of our planet - before it's too late. Most Western countries have solid emissions programs in place. What we need to do is to get everyone else on board.

What do you think?

Fake news. The 10 square miles in Anwar Alaska itself had enough crude to power the USA current conditions for 200 years. Plus, there's not a finite amount of crude on the planet, it is a continual byproduct of the Earth.

I agree. we should keep using nuclear power until alternative energy sources are more efficient. because right now they are absolute poverty chit. nuclear power is awesome.

That's not what the experts are saying.

The general consensus is that, 2060 is the expiration date.

We need to act now. Before it's too late.

That lie about oil running out has been thrown around since the early 1970s. In fact, the claims at that time were that we would have been finished by 2000. As usual, just lies...the agenda of evil people involves this nonsense.

Sooner than that. And yes, we absolutely do. Even if u assume we can make substantial breakthroughs and double reserves, that only buys us a little time. This is the nature of exponential growth. I had a post a while back where I did a calculation to show people. It is very simple to see if u dl the BP energy report.

I need to look at the number I computed ballpark. I think it was mid 2050s at current rates. Now, that doesn't mean we straight run out. But what we would see is a decline and shortages as we got there. It wouldn't bode well for the world. We absolutely really do need a nuclear fusion reactor. And then we buy ourselves a little time to solve waste heat and pollution issues.

Wind, solar, fission, wind, geothermal etc won't cut it. They are good for mitigation, but we need better. And we aren't funding it or trying hard enough.

Didn’t Penn State recently release a study claiming there’s AT LEAST 500 years worth of crude oil left?

No. If they did, they are very wrong and very bad at simple math.

I want to make 1 inescapable fact clear to everyone. Exponential growth requires exponential gains and innovations. Now, in real life, these gains and innovations tend to be increasing but at a decreasing rate. We get diminishing returns. This is the source of the problem. Concave up growth of usage. Concave down growth of new supply. Which do you think will eventually outpace the other?

We would only have enough fissile material to sustain the world on nuclear energy for around 5 years or so.

We need nuclear fusion, not fission.
