Is teeth straightening worth it (Aligners and/or Veneers)?

Dentists told me I'm a candidate for their proprietary brand's aligners. Wouldn't be covered by any insurance due to it being solely cosmetic, but would cost roughly $2.5k. Might also need to include some veneers.

I've always had crooked teeth, including some general alignment issues from one or two instances of physical trauma. Never really been proud of my smile in all my 20+ years of having teeth lol. My teeth aren't hideous, they're pretty well whitened and are only chipped in a couple of places, with some apparent crookedness. But they're far from model teeth.

I've heard rumors that people will pursue aligners/braces, only to find the teeth will eventually go back into their original positions over some time anyways. Think about how chitty that'd be to drop several grand only to be brought back to square one lol.

Any thoughts or shared experiences from the misc? I've never considered this before because for the last ~10 years or so I had wisdom teeth, but got them all removed recently so it's finally an option for me.

You will need to wear retainers at night, probably forever. 2.5K is about right. Sounds like your mouth is a mess. "only chipped in a few places", what? Get them fixed, which includes straightening and fixing the chips and my guess you need a good whitening while you're at it, even if you said otherwise.

Imo the invisalign, which it sounds like you're going to use, they say to put them in and only take them out to eat. I only wore them at night and they worked perfectly fine.

I'm about a week out from completing Invisalign after some refinements.

I had braces in my teen years and they corrected my upper teeth but having not wearing a retainer like I should my lower teeth never straightened as much and as a result my four front lower teeth were crooked. I had one snaggletooth jut out when I talked. Most people probably wouldn't say I had "bad" teeth but in my 30s I thought I wish I had straight teeth. At this point also my top teeth shifted slightly but not too bad.

Since COVID hit I ended up getting it after ruminating over it for years. I figured since we're rocking masks I would do it. After roughly eight months I'm super satisfied with my results.

You will have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life overnight so they stay in place.

I ended up paying around $1800 for the treatment. I'm about to pay about $250 more for the retainers. Worth it in my opinion considering people definitely judge you on your smile and if it gives you an edge in confidence I say it's worth the money. Easiest way of improving your looks IMO.

They do not go back. You can wear a retainer to keep them exactly in place if you want.

Had braces in my early teens for 3 years then again for one year when I was 26. Was sort of funny when I was 26 because some people thought I was a teen even though I was 6'6" 240.

Well worth it 20 years later. I still get compliments all the time on my teeth.

I would definitely try to straighten what you have before veneers. They never look real and are easy to spot.

Expensive but definitely worth it. Big regret for me not sorting this out when I was younger.

the teeth would go back if they stop wearing their retainer, otherwise I don't see how that's possible.

I got braces, highly worth. Veneers is some baller ****, if you can afford that, might as well

If you have the money its definitely worth it

I had invisalign about 10 years ago..produced amazing results at the time but I cannot stress how IMPORTANT it is to wear your retainer every night because your teeth will shift badly

Mine have shifted alot since I slacked ,I found my retainer and been trying to wear it now but might be past the point of return

I'm almost thinking about redoing invasalign..this time it would be easier since my teeth aren't as fked as they were 10 years ago

They're extra stained at the moment, just had a coffee, but here's what it looks like now basically. Hard to get a good picture, but clear crookedness, some chips.

Everything ITT seems to be right on target. I had it done 10 years ago, as an adult, and it was the best money ever spent.

WEAR THE RETAINER or end up watching your teeth slowly migrate back where they were as others have said.

I ended up doing invisalign again because i didn't... cost me about half the cost and half the time as the first go, but so dumb for something so avoidable.

If you're dwelling about it months/years later like I did you will eventually want to get it and ask yourself why you didn't get it earlier.

Also your dentist can file down your teeth and whiten them.

I'm gonna level with you brah. If your in the US just get some aligners on the bottom and get some veneers for the top. The top are plenty straight but the size/shape aren't ideal, they look like they are caving inwards and the only way to fix the size/shape part of the problem is veneers. Outside of the US hardly anyone walking around on the street has perfect teeth so its not as big of a deal. I had a relative with the same size/shape problem with her teeth even though they were straight. She got veneers and her smile went from a 5/10 to 9.5/10.

I had a massive gap inbetween my 2 front teeth when I was younger and got braces. My ortho was chit so even after I got my braces off I have a small gap there and one of my canines is slightly crooked. My teeth aren't perfect but they've never bothered so I haven't really ever worried about it. If they bother you and you have the money get them fixed. If they don't bother you just don't worry about it and continue to live your life

He's not going to be able to just get aligners at the bottom. At least with Invisalign, Smile Direct, etc. He will have to do both.

When I went to Ireland/UK it was a pretty big shock to me. I'd always heard the British teeth jokes but thought it was a meme. Their teeth aren't yellow but on average they are a lot more crooked than Americans. I guess they don't get braces over there unless they are really, really bad.

Only like $5k for an entire set in Turkey. Dental care quality and service is also way better than in North America.
