Graduated with an engineering degree in 2020 and jobless (srs)
Well brahs this is my current situation srs, I’ve been unemployed and underemployed since I graduated last year, getting very depressed now with my situation.
I’ve applied at dominos pizza cuz atleast some income is better than no income.
I did some work in warehouses and minimum wage jobs since I graduated but I’m still in this depressing situation.

lol welcome to the modern world where idiots are presidents and educated, competent people settle for underemployment
had a couple of classmates who were grad students in math...one ended up at jp morgan...another couldn't find work and became a schoolteacher
it's a crapshoot

First of all stop being depressed and man up bro , its pretty hard landing first job after college especially if you don't have any internship experience or anyone to refer you. Do you have any college friends that got a jobs and can vouch for you?
How often are you applying to jobs should be treating it as a job and applying 8 hrs a day.
Maybe use linked in and connect with recruiters and managers in your area and send them a msg, you can get premium LinkedIn 30 days for free.

Ring up firms you would like to work for and ask if you can do unpaid work experience deadly srs.
Come in a couple of days a week etc or work there for a few weeks.
Like I said unpaid but you need any experience you can get in the field and this is the way to do it. Shows employers you are motivated.

My cousins were saying to do a course in IT or data science and I can get a job that way.
However how is it possible I can’t find a job with a degree but would find a job with just a cert??

If your success rate for getting interviews is that low you need to fix your resume. Do you have any college friends who went into HR roles that could read it for you?

5 interviews definitely isn’t enough. Do what the guy above me said
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Lol'd @ Domino's pizza with an engineering degree
If you went a year without a job that's entirely your fault
Haven't gone more than 2 weeks without work in my life
You're probably sitting at home shilling a bad resume into an online pile of thousands for jobs you either under qualify or over qualify for like Domino's
If you wanted a job you'd be handing your resume over in person like the rest of us

Join the military, even if you don’t make a career out of it you get valuable experience and VA home loan benefits. While others are struggling to scramble their Starbucks change to buy a home, you’ll be flexin’ on the rest of your peers with your VA benefits (semi-srs).
On a more serious note, I’m in the army reserves and I love it. You could try to become an engineer officer which is what I’m doing now. Although as an officer you’ll be doing very little engineering and more administrative.

So what just walk into an engineering company and give my CV in person to the receptionist?
You are probably right about the bad CV, I’ll need to fix it up more but not sure what more I can put onto it, when my work experience is basically warehouse and retail etc.
I don’t have an internship or engineering experience (mechanical)

Do you network? Seems like Engineering is one of those fields where its all about who you know. I was in the same situation as you having done a masters degree on top of a bachelors to become a clinical Dietitian and was still working as a labourer a year later and getting pretty depressed; applying for jobs everyday, sitting interviews and getting nowhere. Eventually got myself a mentor who got me a foot in the door as a casual at a hospital he worked at for a couple of days a week, worked there for a year and got another full time job through word of mouth at another site. Did not have to interview for either of them. Networking is far more valuable in certain fields than applying for jobs relentlessly

At any rate, yeah it can be brutal out there and some people are very out of touch with how phucked the job market can be. Especially getting the initial experience. Brb "entry level...3-5 years experience required". Everyone wants experience, but no one wants to give it. As I've mentioned before, I finished a Masters in Accounting post Navy and it still took me almost two years of working shyt jobs or being unemployed before I finally landed something good.
