Why do you believe in a religion?

Can you explain why you logically believe in a religion?

religion doesnt just mean cosmic zombie. There are 1000s of religions. Science can't explain everything, so therefor people reach out to religion to justify something, etc.

But without any evidence to go on, it's just speculation.

agreed. but thats where Faith comes in. With faith, there is no reason for evidence. If the belief is strong enough then its true to that person. its not logical, but religion isnt logical.

Are you serious?

Look up WMAP, CMBR, and Hubble data.

And for evolution, look at any study of antibiotic resistance, all the phylogenetic analyses done on known species, the observation of evolution in finches, etc.

You're profoundly retarded.

The existence of God is the only sensible conclusion. Only people with subconscious biases conclude otherwise. the impossibility of an infinite past for example.

Christianity is the most likely revelation of God to us.

antibiotic resistance isn't evidence of evolution. Nor finches. That's just plain ol' biology being biology.
Is there no limit to what people will believe if it is prefaced by the phrase,
"Scientists say" ?

I see the value in having an ideal to strive for as a moral guiding principle. Religion provides that like nothing else can. Obviously when taken too far (and too literally), it can result in tyrannical dogma that drives so many people away from it. But even if "religion" is not far off from mythology, it's purpose is still profound.

I dunno that I consider myself a believer but religious communities are far better than Atheist ones.
That alone is a reason to be a "believer". Will always go to church

Hopefully people interested in learning about the mountain of evidence supporting the fact of evolution will actually look into it (be it online sources, lay books, textbooks, or formal education), and not just go off what a red poster on a bodybuilding forum is saying (who not surprisingly is revealing a religious bias simultaneously).

I was waiting to see your name. I almost made it inb5. Your reply is shorter than normal. I actually laughed at your response to him (not sarcastically either). You've turned... a leaf? A very evolutionized leaf? Essentially, you're less abrasive. I'm not sure if I like the new you. Let me see if I can change it.

Evolution is fake and gay. Big bang is just a theory. God is real. If that doesn't do it, I've got the clincher.

Earth is 6,000 years old. Huehue.

I'll play devil's advocate (somewhat?) here on this one. Gods exist because gods are relative to a person's belief system. Some folks worship nature as a god. That definitely exists. It's what you believe about gods that are questionable, right?

You know my stance Opie.

Something doesn't come from nothing. Abrahamic faiths have historical roots that many of us have cultural upbringing in. Those two combined satisfy a natural question and answer of "is there more?"

Fear.

They believe solely because of fear.

They fear the Unknown therefor they worship the Unknown in a bid for mercy.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
