*Official Misc dad's thread* my couch pulls out, I don't

I've seen a few threads over the past year where fellow misc chads have became father's, thought this would be a cool thread...

It doesn't matter if your kid still has the belly button cord on or if you have grandkids, I welcome you. If you have questions, feel free to ask. If you have tips or advice, please post or share links, home remedies, whatever you'd like. Even if you don't have kids yet/ or are thinking about having some in the future, please put on your $17.99 white off Walmart brand Reebok's and join us. Just don't poison this thread with anti dad rhetoric.

I know sam212 and 78novacaine became father's this past year so congrats to you dudes, and I'm sure there are more. This thread may fall flat, if so oh well. But I know I've gotten some great advice from some folks here and wanted to share the love.

Moms welcome, just don't ask us to do the dishes.
I know who I am. And after all these years, there’s a victory in that.

Fuark brah. Is there a good way to filter content on YouTube? Have the filter set from the Comcast router and kids tablet settings on Android also but it seems YouTube will recommend videos that I really don’t think they should be watching?????

Man we experience the same thing, YouTube kids is good for this, but that can get annoying. If they have a dedicated device they watch it one, make a new email and YouTube account, and just search nothing but their shows or whatever they watch for like an hour, then all of the recommended will be just that stuff.

My youngest is very sick atm, some kind of chest infection. Alot of the kids at his school have gone down with the same thing. One upside to 2020 was that no one got sick and there was no flu season due to the country being in total lockdown. Now that we have the travel bubble with Aus we are all starting to get sick again.

Anyways he's been sleeping in my bed with mum, and I'm sleeping on his single bed.. 3 nights and counting.

Any other Misc dads know these feels?

6yo and 2yo daughters (rip) checking in, fatherhood is incredible.

78Novacaine's due to become a father any day now! Plus any other brahs who have new kids/on the way, the best tip I have for the new dads and moms -

Moms on Call (0-6 months)
https://www.amazon.com/Moms-Call-Bas.../dp/B00AN2JPNI

This book has basically everything you need to know to survive the first 6 months. The schedules of when to feed, put down for naps etc alone are worth $10,000 imo - my wife's sister fed/slept their son on demand and it was fukken chaos, brb our kids eat/sleep at the same time and were sleeping thru the night by 6 months. You're down to just one overnight feed by I think 3ish months, too, so at least one parent gets a full nights sleep every night.

Don't worry about the name, TRUST ME on this one bros. We buy it for every friend who becomes a parent, srs. Absolute lifesaver.

https://www.amazon.com/Happiest-Baby...=UTF8&qid=&sr=
The best guide to calming a fussy baby - our hospital gave us a copy free with both of our children's birth, it's that highly regarded.

Been there brah, we've shared our King with sick kids but I typically just end up sleeping on the couch (if our youngest is sick) or in her bed (if our eldest). I'm a light enough sleeper that it's just easier and I don't get grumpy. Hang in there bud.

Dad of a teenager and a toddler here, the biggest thing kids need is for you to pay attention. Your kid is going to constantly want to show you stupid stuff when they're little, it's very important to them even if to you it's just a leaf they picked up off the ground. Show interest. Ask them about the shows they're into, or the comics they're reading. One day they'll want to talk to you about something that IS very important, and they'll know you'll listen and won't be afraid to ask advice when it's truly needed.

2 daughters 4 and 2 and a 5 month old son checking in. Feels expensive man. They are a lot of work but worth it. I've always wanted kids younger and wanted to be that active dad who plays sports with them/go on hikes eventually.

Nothing like getting cuddles with your kids in bed and hearing I love you dad.

Real talk.

I have been practicing this their whole life and it's true. My oldest is about to be 14 (girls) and we talk candidly about anything. Unfortunately I am going through a divorce, but the trust and communication with the kids has been amazing. Their mom is always exasperated and distracted. It makes a difference.

Dad crew checking in!
Never wanted to be or planned on becoming a dad but it happened and I wouldn’t change it for anything. My little dude gives me motivation to not be such a degenerate and live a great life for him, give him the life I wished I’d had as a kid.
