Great to see Shapovalov into his first slam SF.
I've always said that Shapo was the most talented of the so called next/new/coming up gen.

If he plays without fear he can definitely defeat Djokovic, of that there is a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of happening.

Ahh the glorious return of the fan of the guy who just skipped Wimbledon to duck Novak after what happened on his home turf and blamed it on an injury yet again.

iabs getting destroyed in this thread every single day. He must be a glutton for punishment.
All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

Shapo serving for the first set. Djokovic slips and literally gives up on the point. Shapo can’t even get the ball in the court. Gets broken and loses the set in the TB on a double fault.

This match is already over.

And now he double faulted on break point so Djokovic can serve for the second set.

Just lol. People love to call Roger’s prime a weak era but Roddick, Safin, Hewitt, Davydenko, etc. would destroy these young players. Old man Agassi would too. This chit is embarrassing.

Roger's level of dominance before Nadal/Djokovic made his prime competitors look weaker than they were. It took another of the greatest ever and the greatest clay court specialist ever to finally give him competition.

While Nadal has no equal with that play every point like it's the last mindset over his entire career I think Djokovic when he's in the zone is mentally the strongest player and he doesn't go missing through the season like Nadal. He doesn't cherrypick to maintain confidence and protect H2Hs and rarely ducks anyone. He shows up every month of the season and delivers from the AO to the ATP Finals with very few lapses since 2011 aside from his Pepe the guru hugging phase. And that was probably a blessing in disguise that staved off burnout and prolonged his career. Count the slams since 2018.

And unlike Nadal he doesn't have the crowd on his side in big matches. Down match point in 2010-2011 US Open semis. 2015 US Open final. 2019 Wimbledon. 100% support for Federer and it only makes him more determined. Nadal has never experienced that. You've got to give the man his due. He's a beast. Like you mentioned it was really only peak Stanimal in slams 2014-2016 who was his kryptonite and of course Nadal on Chatrier.

"He came up to me in the locker room. Told me he knows how difficult it is for me right now but that it'll all come along. He doesn't have to do it, it's very nice from him to do it. He isn't praised enough."— Shapo on Lego Man

Anyone betting on Berrettini to pull off a miracle?

Hard to believe 12 years after Federer eclipsed Sampras with #15 at Wimbledon, in a couple of days 3 men will be tied on 20 slams.

Federer and Nadal fans don't want to hear it but let's face it Djokovic should be going for #22 tomorrow.

2020 Wimbledon canceled while French went ahead for Bull in pandemic battered Paris.
2020 US Open was his to win before a pro Federer line judge went down like she'd been shot.

Expect a well rested Nadal to throw the kitchen sink at the US Open but if Novak takes the record there by winning all 4 in the same year it's game, set, and match. He will be considered the greatest player.

Federer: first to 20, raised the bar for the others to follow like Sampras before him, and the most talented of the three. Crowd favorite everywhere he goes. Will always be remembered for playing a style of tennis that at his peak is unmatched aesthetically — no one made winning look easier.
Nadal: King of Clay.
Djokovic: will hold all the records and be considered the greatest.

It's a shame Federer didn't get this version in the final two years ago but then he raises his level against the best players.

Berrettini is an Italian Roddick. I stand by my prediction here over two years ago that he will be a Top 5 player even without a decent BH.

Hard to believe 3 active players are sitting on 20 slams when no one else still playing has won more than 3.

I am mate. I reckon Novak's Serbian mafia buddies must have had big bets on him dropping the first and winning in 4. Should have been a comfortable straight sets.

dude, that first set was fishy as hell.

joke was up like 5-2 1st set and 5-1 second set and just let the guy come back.

"Pro Federer line judge went down like she'd been shot"?!? LMAO, stop with the retarded CT. Homie drilled a line judge with a ball. It was clearly accidental and unfortunate, but he did what he did and got what he deserved.

Drilled you say? Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

The guy gave it a flick and after hitting the deck she spent minutes writhing around like she'd been shot. Earlier that year Nadaldrilled a forehand into a ball girl's headand she barely flinched.

How many cameras are on that court and there's no footage of her being struck by the ball?

You're dreaming if you think Federer or Nadal would have been defaulted under the same circumstances. Clear as day Novak got canceled. The third wheel is crashing the slam party and the powers that be hate him for it.
