Why do people catch flak for buying a fullbred dog instead of adopting?

Never understood why people who buy fullbred dogs get so much chit for it. Some people want a specific breed with a certain temperment, genetically predisposed skills, and a look that comes with fullbreds. Don't get me wrong, it's awful that kennels are always so full and am glad people adopt these animals but if you want a certain dog for a certain purpose you shouldn't be slagged on for buying.

I've never heard of that before. Most people I know that have dogs always went for purebreds, including me. Maybe its because people are letting their dogs breed with just about anything so you have a influx of muts that no one really wants.

I'm referring to the "adopt don't shop" people. See that chit on bumper stickers all the time here.

Since there would only be one pup, it would cost more money for the C-section than he would make from selling the pup so he decided to euthanize the mother with the pup still inside.
That's terrible. You're right on the puppy mill business. Just awful. There's a lot of responsible breeders out there though.

We've had 4 rescues and they've all been terrific pets. 3 of the 4 of them have been purebreds as well.

Adopt don't shop crew checking in, there's so many great dogs out there in need of a good home. Would never be rustled by someone buying a dog from a breeder though. Find a dog you want and love it for the rest of its life.

Oh, those people. I cant stand them. They feel morally superior because they act like they "rescued" a dog.

While I think buying purebreds is pretty dumb, I think caring about how someone else got their dog or judging them for it is infinitely more dumb.

I love free chit but I couldn't adopt because my wife and kids allergies require some very specific breeds and they have to be reasonably pure. Those types of dogs don't tend to randomly end up in a kennel.

That being said its kind of a funny subject. The people are saying that only mutt dogs who abandon their kids should be able to raw dog and creampie that sweet little bish poontang. Honorable dogs with a lineage should just masturbate with their little paws.

I don't judge from the "there's so many pets in shelters to adopt" angle. But puppy mills and their whole industry can be pretty vile and disgusting.

I have had 2 purebred dogs, both were "rescued" because they were dropped off by puppy mills/breeders at kill shelters. One was dropped off because she was seriously ill, the other just because he didn't meet the correct breed specs.

IMO "adopt don't shop" is dumb because people will do what they want and people want purebreds. I'm more in the Bob Barker "spay and neuter your pets" camp, that's what keeps the population under control and the shelters empty.

I used to volunteer at a shelter like 15 years ago. It's sad. I would walk the big strong dogs. These shelters are full of good dogs that people didn't want. That's why there's so much push for adoption and not breeding. Best dog I ever had was from a kill shelter. Some idiot in Passaic, NJ moved out of an apartment and just left her there. Landlord found her.

The concept is that people run puppy mills, where they breed dogs to sell for profit. Any dog that isn't sold, gets abandoned, put up for adoption, or killed behind the woodshed. You can't sell a puppy past a certain age, and it's undesirable. So the concept is that buy adopting, you are not letting puppy mills profit, in the hopes to stop them.

Pure bred puppies go so fast. For any popular bred a reputable breeder usually has a waitlist. Half the litter will usually be gone before birth
