Luckily my wife and I see eye to eye on only using family or traditional names. I was ready to do whatever it took to get my way on that one. I wasn't about to have a son named Brynnland or whatever the fuk white girls naming kids these days lol

I'm very into tradition. My son is a 4th. Didn't hurt that I married a man with my favorite male name since I was a teen. lol

I'm a Jr. Floated the idea of passing name down an calling him "Trey." Ultimately didn't really like it. I feel a man deserves his own identity.

You could give him your name as a middle name. Lots of people do that.

I'm a Jr too and we named my son III. My wife wanted Trace (I guess this is a play on the Spanish word for 3 "tres" with a different spelling) I hated that and vetoed immediately. I wanted Tripp but she said that sounded like a ****gytime frat boy so that was out too. We ended up going with the full first name since me and my dad both use different variations on the first name.

This was my second suggestion after Tripp but my wife doesn't like the sound of my middle name. Its not a common first name but not unheard of either and I think it sounds pretty cool and has a unique spelling since it was originally the last name of my great grandmother

Easily the most annoying part about having a kid is having to listen to all of the terrible names. And then having your parents, in-laws, siblings, etc. Constantly throw names at you, and they're always terrible names.

Ain't that the truth lol. My wife and I have 2 more boy and 2 girl names on standby to shut any retarded name ideas down immediately.

Yep.

Why I am a firm believer in not sharing what name you've decided until AFTER baby born. People will tell you what they really think about it b4 baby , but once baby here, they'll keep their garbage opinions to themselves.

New Dadbrah of 2 month old boy! Both our first kid. I'm 34. She's 31. Fcked around and had a covid baby with my long term GF. Probably the only thread I'll ever subscribe to and hope it stays alive. Feels good to relate about the bonding questions, having to fight regarding names (knowing I was gonna decide his first name no matter what), trying to figure out how to protect them from all the garbage out there that will corrupt the family. I'm grateful my GFs family isn't about that woke sht.

First kid really does change the game. I was a free man who could walk away from any situation in the world if I really wanted to. I always knew I wanted a family someday, but still nerve wracking when its time to go all in and put all your chips on the table. Win, lose or draw I just want to give my son and any future kids a better life than I had, teach them what It means to be a good and strong person with a good soul, and give them the chance to go out there and have a good shot at a happy healthy life. That and I want to be the cool buff dad when hes old enough for sports.

If you have tips or advice, please post or share links, home remedies, whatever you'd like. Just don't poison this thread with anti dad rhetoric.

I know sam212 and 78novacaine became father's this past year so congrats to you dudes, and I'm sure there are more. This thread may fall flat, if so oh well. But I know I've gotten some great advice from some folks here and wanted to share the love.

Moms welcome, just don't ask us to do the dishes.
Fuuuuaaaark brah, I remember you saying you were gonna make this thread, I dunno how I missed it til just now. 15 days in and little man/momma are both doing great still. We've been blessed so far with a super chill baby. He pretty much only cries when his diaper needs changing or when he is hungry (but he is on a feeding schedule so we typically beat him to the punch).

But for real, that little dude has unlocked feelings I didn't even know I was capable of having. I absolutely fkn adore him and am stoked for every minute I get to spend with him.

My boy is a Jr, both first and middle names are very traditional. Was actually my wife's idea to name him after me to be honest. She said even before she got preggors that if we ever had a boy she wanted to name him after me and she held true to that. My mom passed away when I was young (17) so I feel like this kind of carries on her legacy as well. My dad kinda wanted me to be named after him and she fought for my name.

Lol had our last child been a boy, my husband wanted to name him after him. The same name as his dad, and both his grandfathers. Funny thing is he doesn’t even go by his own name. He uses an English translation of his name. It’s like one of the most common Hispanic names out there. His mom dead ass shot it down. She said “No! I no like ____! That’s why I call you (middle name).” Then his sister chimes in “Ayyyy ____ is such an ugly name!”
Lol I died laughing. Luckily our child was a girl and it wasn’t an issue. But I told him we could use his name as the middle name if we ever had a boy.

Traditional names FTW. All my kids' names can be found in the bible. At one point I was worried their names would be too common, but with all the names people come up with today that hasn't been a problem, lol.

Got my daughter watching the British open with me this morning.

Little known fact, there are unclaimed golf scholarships for women every year. If a high school girl can break 90 from the ladies tee's, she can get at least some of her school paid for.

Did not realize so many dad's on here had multiple daughters, y'all can help me build the guard tower I'm adding onto my house when mine become teens. We gotta stick together.

Have my two girls. Very close to them. Unfortunately I have had to move out, but I am around the corner in the neighborhood and the girls come over often. Spent the night last night. Was sweet. They are 14 and 11. THis killed me most. Being able to watch and protect them all day and night.
