Idk. I worked a corporate finance job once where I wrote apps for my work, and I literally worked 5 minutes per week at one point. I think this is common in these jobs. You're there for when things change, to do things by hand and update the software you already wrote.

As a software designer (not developer) I think Iโ€™ve worked an average of 3 hours the last 6 months, and about 5 hours total this whole week.

Tech jobs in the big companies are interesting. They just jump ship from top company to top company after 1 or 2 years, then work in start ups getting paid great for lead positions. Must be nice.

Iโ€™d rather be a designer than a dev. Although devs are always in demand, you donโ€™t even have to be a great at writing code, itโ€™d just you know how to speak the language. A lot of times you can work as little as you want as long as your lead or boss is cool with your output. Most stakeholders donโ€™t know how long it takes to deliver.

This.

It's unbelievable how incompetent some developers are. In my experience it's always the most confident guys who sound like they really know what they're doing, until you sit down and actually code with them, or have to debug and fix their garbage. That said, most of the people I work with are really good at what they do, and work quite a bit. At least where I am, the more senior someone is the more work they have.

lmao at tech bros and tech company workplaces.......it's literal slavery once you factor in the time you have to work and the moronic soycuck culture you have to push to fit in.

In the end, you're just marginally ahead of someone working a normal job investing the same way as you did throughout their lifetime....you won't get 'rich' just well off....but it doesn't really matter at all anymore after a certain net worth (source: personal experience)

I think a lot of jobs are like that, where you don't really spend much time doing what you are really hired to do, but instead all kinds of crap around it. I feel like I dick around a lot at work and I'm not even in "tech" as most think of it. Then again I'm always busy.

I work remote from home, do you know what I did today? I went to a morning meeting for about 30 minutes. Spent another hour answering emails..... and then I took a 4 hour nap to catch up on missed sleep (not because I was working hard, but because I was staying up late jerking off to pr0n)....

I tape my phone to my mouse and set my phone to vibrate every 5 minutes so that my company-issued laptop doesn't hibernate....

Only a fcccking fool works hard for others....
