Questions for wincel to read and ignore:

1. Can you be killed by the delta variant if COVID-19 already killed you?
2. In the vulnerable population, what % of people are either COVID-19 recovered or COVID-19 vaccinated?
1) That makes no sense. No.
2) Depends. Where? You can google the specifics...estimates of who has been infected will vary.

It does because COVID-19 and COVID-19 delta both kill the same people and since COVID-19 already culled the herd, the death toll by definition must be exponentially smaller. BTW, the flu wont kill many people in the 2021/2022 winter either since the flu also kills the same people.

Obviously talking about where I live. In the group most impacted by COVID-19, what % are either COVID-19 recovered or COVID-19 vaccinated?

This is important as this secondary factor also greatly limits the number of potential deaths.

The population refusing to get vaccinated the Fauci way are getting vaccinated the old fashioned way, this is a good thing since they are unlikely to die.

The only things viruses do is become more contagious and less deadly.

Their evolution favors both of these factors.

That is why everyone catches the common cold but barely gets sick.

The "herd" wasn't culled. You are acting like everyone has either had covid or been vaccinated. Also, there are vulnerable people who survived the earlier strain but can still succumb to this one. You choose to ignore all the other negative effects of the virus. It's ridiculous.

That's why people have coronvirus in their nose and aren't sick.

The tests create false positives because they detect the hundreds of coronavirus. Some of them, as you've said, are harmless and probably billions of people have them.

However, if we use marketing, we can slap sexy names on random corona and scare people.

Delta is a dramatic name in our culture, for instance.

You won't see a new strain called Margie.

It was. This thing spreads like the cold and killed a huge number of people susceptible to it.

What is ridiculous is the way you buy into humanity being this fragile, likely because you are. If you were right about any of this we would gone extinct millions of years ago.

Viruses will always come in and wipe out the weakest. We could have directly protected them until we could vaccinate them, but we didn't because their deaths were very convenient.

I live in a city where everything is open and nobody is really talking about Covid anymore. Don't really watch the news either.

If I wouldn't log onto the misc and see people like the OP talking about Covid. I really wouldn't be aware its even still around. The only reason I've even heard of the 'delta' variant is from the misc.

I'm in and out of our hospitals fairly often and its business as usual. The ER's aren't over-flowing with people dying from covid.

The thing that trips me out is this pandemic had been almost done. Who the hell is testing themselves right now? If this many people are actually positive, that means they're symptomatic. If these are the symptomatic cases...we are right back to where we started and just wait till asymptomatic people start getting tested. Fuk.

A bit under 30k daily cases this past week. Biggest day was 40K.

The detachment of deaths from cases was displayed months ago. Anyone even remember the little spring splash we had from mid-march to mid april? Cases went from about 53,000 to 70,000 while deaths kept on falling during and after.

We are testing less, so the # of infections is probably back to 6-7 for every one detected, like this time last year.

I laugh at medication names for this reason.

A psych med will be like, Extremocolm, which sounds like "Extremely Calm" or whatever.

The Delta virus cannot be real because as I've said, they couldn't really detect Covid that well and couldn't isolate it. They could not grow a huge batch of Covid-19 or else that would be used as the vaccine.

So, Delta is a "cool" and scary drama name for something that is just another coronavirus mutation.

It's an attempt to restart the corona business cycle.

I am assuming that corona is largely a dead issue with most people and the Delta thing will die out as a marketing scheme.

We are past election year. Corona was an election year marketing scam.

The fake vaccine is repacked F@CKING AIDS MEDS and I'm sure that massive government funding of it is pushing the endless marketing.

That is a marketing goldmine if you can sell the idea of calling these viruses by a cool name.

However, covid harmed almost no one. Hospitals cannot keep pulling the fake cause of death thing to get money. People will see no sick people from the Delta, Lambda, or ZOLTAR VARIANT and get tired of the scam.

I live in Philly next to Bucks County. They had full open no restrictions since last July and had like 80 deaths of 90 year olds. They stopped buying this sh!t over a year ago. Meanwhile, I live three miles away and it was paranoia and mask action until this year.

That's a major sign it wasn't a real crisis. Three miles does not stop a serious plague.

As you would expect the main benefit of vaccines has been in the elderly. Yes the number of infections is much higher than what's being reported. Of course. There are numerous ways to look at and interpret data, and in the end the elderly are probably about 90-95% less at risk of death if they get infected now compared to a year ago. The reduction in risk is not as great for obese people, no matter what their age.

I do not have the $ or power to provide the elderly at home services or install extra staff at care facilities to enforce strict COVID protocol, that could have been the government's job.

They opted to tell people to wear masks and put COVID positive people directly into care facilities instead. You are on the side of the bad guys wincel.

The UK is already posting daily New Case numbers that are as high as their biggest spike to date, but hospitalizations are 1/10th of what they are at the equivalent point in the curve. I think the UK is opening up on Monday even with being in the middle of this new spike

As long as burden on the health care system is low, I think places will continue pushing for normal life. Seems like the next risk would be vaccine resistance in light of huge new cases, but you'd think the mRNA platform would allow for quick adaptation
