Right. The side whose plan is to do absolutely nothing about the virus must be better.

As long as burden on the health care system is low, I think places will continue pushing for normal life. Seems like the next risk would be vaccine resistance in light of huge new cases, but you'd think the mRNA platform would allow for quick adaptation
It doesn't. It's going to be a long time before we get a delta vaccine because of how long it takes to get through initial trials.

Do you have any idea about the logistics of that? And how would you prevent spread to the vulnerable? Derp. Keep parroting talking points you read off the web instead of thinking for yourself.

The people saying lockdowns and UBI are doable and necessary is also saying that getting supplies to a portion of the population and locking down nursing homes is impossible.

You believe this because you can only parrot, not contemplate.

Says the guy who linked me pbs documentaries and claimed he knew more physics. You're the type of guy who "likes physics but doesn't really get the math", aren't you? Do you know why you suck at math? Take a wild guess. It's the same reason you come to the wrong conclusions here.

To stick on topic, focused protection doesn't work. There is no efficient way to segregate and care for the vulnerable.

Are you arguing with yourself? Its like block 1 and block 2 are on opposite sides.

Another thing you cannot get away from is your binary thinking. Its do X or do Y with you because that is how religion works. You cannot even fathom the possibility that we could wear masks, get vaccinated AND lock down the nursing homes and provide the elderly direct support because your religious leaders do not speak this way. "You are pro-vax or anti-vax", this is your binary world, there is no in between anything.

Again, how do u segregate the vulnerable without spreading covid?

There is a reason focused protection was pushed by people who do not specialize in infectious disease or virology. It sounds good on paper. It isn't practical operationally.

What do you think a mask does?

That is used face to face. Are you trying to say that a mask + no-contact delivery is less effective?

Have you worked through anything you are told, ever?

I'm saying that many elderly live with families and need to be cared for directly. It isn't as simple as wearing a mask and delivering food. The mask only marginally reduces spread. It isn't going to magically protect the person if they're living with someone with covid. You're just desperately grasping at straws because you don't want to see the danger of this virus nor do you want to admit that maybe the economists and epidemiologists at the CDC already looked into that. You know they are paid and educated, right?

That and the fact that closing Walmart would starve at least 10% of America. Grats. And yes it is true. Walmart has much better ventilation than a conventional small store.

Yeah, the people not living in terror are the desperate ones.

To debunk this......

Those elderly living with others ...... live with others under either plan so if they can have the people in the home less reliant on leaving, they are less likely to bring COVID home.

For the elderly living alone, this literally changes EVERYTHING.

If you're saying we need better funding for elderly care in this country, I agree.

Anyway, there is no reason to not vaccinate, but sadly the current vaccines won't help enough vs Delta.

Yeah but you are not willing to take it a step further and say that it was criminal to exploit them to drive the death toll up.

Are you talking about Cuomo's bullchit or what? Yea they didn't have appropriate nursing homes to care for the elderly and take appropriate measures to stop covid. Not sure it was criminal. You seem to be alleging a conspiracy.

Guys, what are you arguing about, we already have the game plan
- shut down small stores while leaving large ones open
- have people wear ineffective mouth diapers
- and most importantly, put the infected into nursing homes

I'll give you two very good reasons:

1.) The covid vaccine is experimental and has killed 4x as many people in the last 8 months than ALL vaccines in the last 50 years combined.
2.) 99.97% of people do not need it.

No it hasn't killed that many people. Not all adverse events logged were caused by the vaccine. You need to compare to baselines rates.

I'll give you a good reason. It gives you a baseline level of immunity to work with that can help you fight other strains if infected and can prevent death. They probably don't protect against Delta as well as prior studies indicated, according to new evidence though.

Add to the list:

3.) People catching COVID-19 and recovering creates a pool of people that can be compared to immunity through vaccination.

People getting vaccinated and people recovering from COVID-19 are both creating data for science.

You mean its part of life?

We eat junk food, drink, smoke, do drugs, do dangerous stuff for fun......

Dangerous sh!t is part of life and we die horribly all the time.

The things is, people like you never actually live so stuff like COVID looks very different to you.

LOL. If you're talking about some corner market yeah, most grocery chains I've encountered have excellent ventilation tho. Mexican and Asian markets in Cali are an exception-nothing like smelling meat or fish the second you walk in... Maybe this was a justification, bit it's a schitty one.

There's also supply chain stuff. Walmart has fewer hops for their supply chain and mass distributes. It's possible for big name stores to standardize and upgrade their procedures for covid more effectively than a small local store.

Oh nos! A few people have underlying conditions that make covid worse than 99.97% of us. We better pay big pharma to produce 14 billion doses of an experimental vaccine that doesn't even work!

So to be proactive we should just reduce obtaining things to Amazon and and Walmart, right?
