At this point there is so much vaccine out here, you either get it or you dont and if you get sick you live with the consequences.

I do think there should be some mechanism to penalize or ensure that folks who are hospitalized (and unvaccinated) should bear more cost though. At this point if you want to burden the healthcare system because of your decisions, you should also be willing to pay the consequences (should it happen).

I have mentioned the world economic forum and their PUBLIC promotional video many times now. The boiled frog has to do with how you can post something like that today, but not 20 years ago.

Have you watched it? If not, you should. Its the "you'll own nothing and be happy" video, you know, very rational stuff.

No, probably not. Because there are genetic factors, economic factors, etc that go into it. There are also cultural factors so would be impossible to enact.

But in the same way smokers pay higher health insurance, should put some kind of cost on these types of decisions.

Its the same thing with detecting it on a surface over a specific time period. That says nothing about how viable the virus is when it is still technically detectable, but that isn't the point, terror is the point.

I don't think that at all. What I do believe is that there are wealthy and powerful people absolutely convinced that humanity is going to self destruct and it is their obligation to save us from ourselves. That is why they are dangerous, they absolutely believe that they the only ones with the power and will to do what must be done.

IMO, if humanity votes to destroy itself through its own actions, that is their right. This is the fundamental issue that underpins absolutely everything else and transcends all elections and governments. No one "votes" for billionaires, they are outside that system so can act however the hell they want since they don't have to win an election.

In our society money = power and influence. That's just how the society was designed - just like how everything is right vs. left (though polarization might be at all time highs).

Saying that if people want to do something (especially if it's destructive), that is their will and right, I kind of get your point. But this type of thinking implies Nazi germany (or genocide, etc) in other parts of the world is totally fine -- you need some body to stand up and say this is / isn't right.

Not to say the people who are standing up are always right either but if you see a train going off the rails, as a human being or a member of society, someone needs to be the person to pull the breaks to prevent everything from crashing.

I just can't go there. Maybe 100 or so people making the call that effects billions and 10s of billions yet to be born sounds a lot like the Thanos snap. His heart was in the right place and I have seen many people make the case that Thanos was actually the good guy. Its easy to build a devout following if you seem legitimately driven to save humanity and convinced that time is running out. The problem with this is that if you are saving 10s and billions of lives, what measures are off the table? And after those measures, what if you are wrong?

Fair enough. I guess I just wonder why you think there is a group in charge of the world. How do you explain the conflicts? Look at Israel and Palestine or Kashmir. Why aren't these powers that be doing anything about it?

Also, you don't seem to deny the virus' existence. You can see from CDC data a huge number of excess deaths occurred last year. That means there was an actual significant new cause of death.
