Smoked a brisket the other day. Felt good cooking for a bit of a crowd again.




No smoke ring. I suspect that's because of the big bag of cheap mesquite pellets I use.




Anyone got any favorite ways of processing/saving several dozen small ripe plums? The bigger ones are 2inches in diameter.

That's very true. I picked up a few Chinese and Korean cookbooks in the last few years and typically have them lying around.

Smoked chuck roast barbacoa. It is better with shortribs or cheeks. I could see doing half chuck and half shortribs and/or cheeks.




Smoked turkey breast for sandwiches. Invited some friends over. There were no leftovers.

Any sourdough fans? I do sourdough pancakes every Sunday and then I have a recipe to use the leftover batter to make bread. It's kind of gotten to be a family tradition now to have fresh bread on Sunday afternoon/evening.



It's still good with jam, but for sourdough, honey is where it's at.



One of these days I'm going to freestyle and give cinnamon rolls a shot.

Family recipe. Chicken (in my case skin on boneless thighs) slow fried in butter olive oil and schmaltz with lots of garlic and herbs. Pasta tossed with garlic fat, starchy pasta water, parmesan.

Made that for the fam last weekend, I'm aware it's on paper plates, I don't care.

The main thing was that mango, corn and black bean salsa, fish was just salt and black pepper, TBH the rice was Lipton or something like that.

I got drunk and made the same mango salsa last night only last one had a jalapeno, this batch has a jalapeno and a jabanero (no jabanero seeds though), it tastes even better.

The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.
