I can see how the high cost of living would make it difficult to afford housing.
California is honestly beautiful, drove all the way up the coast from Santa Monica to Seattle once and was blown away.
The people also seem friendly and laid back.
It does seem like it has the biggest homeless problem in the US though and I went before the lockdowns.
For me the homeless issue is not about something looking bad or property values, but it's that people shouldn't go without housing.
It seems like housing is one of the most basic needs after water and food, but all the liberal policies don't really do anything.
Utah and Australia have it figured out, and it's good for their economies.
However, in any case, I think I would prefer a free state without lockdowns, as much as I enjoyed California in the pre-COVID era.

Yes, can confirm. Used to live in San Diego (as a former rentcel). It's the best city not just in CA, but on the entire Pacific coast.

I've only been a couple times and the last time was several years ago so I don't really remember it. It's like a 2 hour drive from where I live and LA is only an hour so I go to LA more often.

I like Santa Barbara better, also check out Morro Bay. Use to drive PCH (Highway 1) from Pt. Mugu to Northern Ca. a lot when I was in the Navy. Also road Amtrak silver coastal train a few times instead of drive. Very scenic and enjoyable.

Live in the central valley... ugh but not bad. But is nice to visit those cities whenever I want. Have had interviews at the coast but I'm too cheap to accept the cost of living. Yes, das a good one in Cali. Lotta conservatives in many beaches for you miscers too. Pros and cons in California but food, weather and b*tches are top notch. People want to bitch about Cali, but the blue haired weirdos aren't taking over like some think.

Maybe if you're coming from a small town with Olive Garden as your options, but there is just so much good food in Southern California that SD is massively left behind.

When I visited I liked Pasadena better but it’s too close to LA so San Diego is 1000x better than LA.

It is the best of the large 3 cities. LA is fukked. SF JFL. What a chithole. San Diego is hanging on by a thread. With our ******* mayor Todd Gloryhole and cuck Nathan Felcher SD is also swirling down the drown.

Well -- what's the competition? San Francisco or Los Angeles? (I don't think Monterey is a city, right?)
Compared to San-Fran and L.A. ... yeah, I would go with San Diego. Although I don't think San Francisco is as bad as people say. I went there in 2017 and loved it; I spend a whole day walking on Lombard street, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 41.
Los Angeles really is a dump though

Probably yes.
