Occam's razor. There are much easier ways to kill millions of people than a vaccine. My concern isn't borne out of some conspiracy to depopulate the planet. On the contrary - I suspect that these companies are playing it fast and loose with safety because they see it as a huge fed money cash cow, and they have negotiated a position where they can't be held responsible for side effects. I just don't trust these scumbag companies to keep our best interests in mind...they're proven time and time again that they don't give a **** about you.

There isn't a vaccine requirement to get a passport. At least not in the US.

Because governments are desperately trying to get this "pandemic" over and done with so that they don't have to lockdown again and continue destroying their economies and losing ground to rivals. You may think that most people oppose the lockdowns and think it's a massive sham but the truth is the opposite. Most people are fearful and weak, and governments would be unable to withstand the pressure to implement measures if numbers start going too high again.

You think a western government that resisted implementing any restrictions would survive? No way, they'd be torn down by the cancel culture that is made up of most of the media, a large portion of the population and most of social media. Sweden is an exception (and they have had restictions also). I think a lot of leaders even fear some kind of kangaroo courts set up after the pandemic, that would charge them with serious crimes for not implementing mandatory restrictions.

I got covid. It wasn't just a cold. I had a 33 yo coworker go on a ventilator and I had another one die.
