"Died peacefully in his sleep but no cause mentioned" at 46???? Fuk that blows.

Slipknot was a prime staple in every person's teen angst rotation from 1999 to 2008. Iowa was such a fuking dope album.

Rip, I know people rip on them as a poser band but I genuinely liked them. Me and my dad who rarely get on kinda bonded over when he showed me them, my first taste of that type of music and I loved it. The irony of somebody doing heavy metal dying peacefully though.

Some of my metalhead friends growing up were kind of elitists who shat on nu-metal bands like Slipknot quite heavily, but they ALWAYS put respect on Joey Jordison's name as a drummer.

he was dope as fuk. I remember so many aspiring metal drummers trying to be like him, buying his sticks, those god awful painted black Paiste cymbals, the double pedals.

He definitely changed metal drumming, everyone went out and bought a double kicker after hearing that 1999 album. Hell I bought my black pearl export kit because he was on the poster for it haha.

LOL - Pearl export. I've thought about that kit in about a decade. I've been playing drums for 30+ years (yes old guy) and I still have my original Pearl export downstairs. What a hot piece of garbage that kit was. It sounded like crap no matter how you tuned it...

I don't **** on any band that rights their own songs and plays their own instruments, Slipknot just doesn't do anything for me, it's not the kind of metal I like. That said:

1)Nobody who understands drumming will ever disrespect Joey's playing.
2)I want to see Slipknot live, looks like an unforgettable show.

my best friend and I went to see them live as a "why not?" sort of thing. We had never heard anything about them, but the local record store used to give out singles when you bought something. I got the Wait and Bleed single and it was pretty fukkin rad. Saw they were going to be in town a month or two later and got tickets. Again, we knew NOTHING. I just remember the place going pitch black, then swirling red pentagrams started swirling over the crowd with the I HOPE THEYRE MASOCHISTS loop playing and playing and playing and then BOOM. They were all on stage and melting faces.

Then sid at one point stage dove and we caught him. People were tearing at him, and I very clearly remember part of his jump suit got ripped open, and exactly like a giant fukking baked potato being popped open, steam just FLEW from his suit. It was awesome.

That was 99 or 00. Been a fan ever since.
