Next year, we'll probably be homeless

My gf and I rent a one bedroom apartment for $950 on the original lease contract in 2020, January, it jumped to $1250, this upcoming January I'm expecting it to jump again. It'll probably go up to about $1500. We can hardly afford the rent as it is, but every other apartment complex in our area costs the exact same, so it isn't worth moving. Renting a home starts at $2300 in my area. If our rent goes up at the beginning of next year, we are not going to be able to afford the rent and we are going to end up getting evicted. My covid benefits were helping us be able to survive, once they get cut off I am going to go from making $2,000 a month to $700 a month, and we are not going to be able to make a large portion of our bills. Nobody's hiring in my area. I've been applying to jobs non-stop for the last 2 months and I've gotten absolutely no replies. I'm terrified for what's to come.

shood i stop paying rent? even if evicted the courts are so backed up i cood save like 1-1.5 years worth of back rent b4 i wood actually be evicted with police presents. also by then they might even have a non payment cuz of covid program.

buy a toy hauler trailer for 55K, find a place for a trailer hookup for 300 per month. pay down toy hauler, travel country and enjoy.

my nephew is doing this as a travel nurse right now and its working out well.

Cut back your expenses, get a new job which pays you more and find a cheaper place. Try harder or enjoy homeless life.

Use your time to try improving your financial condition instead of making stupid and lazy threads in the Bodybuilding forum. Or lift weights at least.

A 33% raise in rent is pretty ridiculous.

Government gave out $254 billion in lockdown aid, investment banks now find it fashionable to buy and flip vacant homes for ridiculous prices.

But the stock market has done a record 87% since the crash despite unemployment going down.

Less people can afford to own stock so it's actually better for banks.

So basically a handful of wealthy financiers are doing really, really well and everyone else is getting their angus peppered.

Samraiwise has a point about getting tough and adapting.

But there are already plenty of families live in homeless tent cities right now so things are bad across the board.

You can always turn to a life of crime which is what many people did in Ireland leading up to the Land War.

Gotta get your hands dirty and sell drugs or rob people at gunpoint if that's what it takes with no jobs available.

Or you can just starve to death like others did.

The joke then was that the poor gentlemen landlords were begging for rent like panhandlers.

Of course the joke there is that the landlord does not actually have to work to collect rent.

Or you can just go to jail and legally become a slave of the state, that will guarantee food and housing.

Not sure what to tell you, maybe you can move to the ghetto, was getting $700/mo for a place there in one of the lowest housing cost parts of the USA.

But then again the rent has probably gone up there too, that was years and years ago.

Whatever you do, don't get angry at the government, wealthy politicians, or wealthy gentlemen who own all the media companies.

Can't imagine being upset at a comfortable class of billionaires who are getting rich on your struggle and strife.

Net income of 2 people working 40 hours at $15 dollars an hour is 4800 a month. You probably can’t afford it because you’re a lazy sack of chit.
