Well technically Germany attacked russia and Poland. Hitler wanted to kill all Slavs. England watched until Germany attacked them too. Japan attacked the usa. That’s when they got in. Well technically the US were being utter kunts towards the japanese ... The us and other western countries had no qualms colonizing and absolutely decimating indigenous populations of other countries, but the moment Japan started doing the same thing in asia, the western world wouldnt have it. It's prolly a touchy subject for you americans, but pearl harbor seemed fully justified from the japanese point of view. It was an attack of desperation rather than malice.

I wouldn't say the allies fought the "wrong" enemy, but they clearly had two enemies and ended up siding with who they perceived to be the lesser of two evils. There seemed to be an understanding amongst the Allied world leaders that the Soviet Union would be a problem that they would have to deal with one day, but Nazi Germany was the more immediate threat.

Hitler honestly did the world a favor when he unexpectedly attacked the Soviet Union. Stalin envisioned himself playing chess while the rest of the world was playing checkers, and planned on sitting out most of the war while he continued to build up his military. Regardless of which side won the war, Stalin would have sent his troops westward to conquer the "victors", who would have likely been too exhausted to fight off the might of a well-rested Soviet army hell-bent on conquest.

This. Also why the vast majority of resources were put towards defeating germany before japan. The allies considered them to be by far the most dangerous of the axis powers.

Communism killed millions and brought untold suffering and poverty. Much of it could have been prevented if the soviet union had been brought down but there was no stomach for any more war, and understandably so.

Well the commies certainly were an enemy, but there's no excusing the Holocaust and the chit Hitler did. It's not like you could just ally with Germany. It was a complicated and chitty situation. Germany was being a ******* to France and the UK so there's no way an alliance with Germany would have flown.
