If you are gonna make 2-3 plate you'll make it soon, within a year or so from the date you SERIOUSLY try going for it.

But very few people just luck ass their way into 4plate

i got to 5 plates without ever really caring for bench numbers

only lift I really cared about was conventional deadlift numbers.

Hit 1 plate pretty much right away when I started lifting. 2 plates took a couple years. 3 plates a couple more years. I have yet to hit a raw 405 bench. Come close a few times and kind of gave up on it to chase equipped bench numbers.

My bench has always been pretty ****ty but I assume it's because I always shoot for the 8-12 rep range for hypertrophy. I think my best was like 2 x 215lbs.

3 plates considering it took me till last year to get there. Got to 225 in around a year maybe less. Will never get to 4 plates.

^This. Then ended up with shoulder surgery and have not gone over 225 since. I rep it out now. I don't think bench is what did me in, it was all the weird shoulder chit I was doing.. behind the head pulldowns, dips platform at my old gym that was shoulder height, two bars and you'd stand in the middle. I use to get on there and use my core to do pushups with my legs lifted behind me... and some other chit.

Had 2 PT's and surgeon all call me an idiot for doin that chit but it is what it is now mane. I;m getting older anyways.

All great answers! Trying to get a scope of how the lifting community does in reaching benchpress benchmarks

I would say 3 plates. 2 plates just came with time. 3 plates took longer and more 'failure' so to speak.

I got to 160kg, or roughly 3.5 plates. 4 is not going to happen now. My 1RM heavy lifting days are behind me.
