Those ****ers scare me. Even with a large caliber handgun or bear spray the odds are against you because from what I understand it's a very quick, unexpected attack.

I've hiked a ton around TN, NC, and VA and have walked up on numerous black bears. They have all run away.

I get the feeling that bear has been around (or at least feels comfortable around) humans. If it were a mama bear with cubs, that's a whole 'nother ball game, she'd instinctively go into murder mode to defend her cubs.

I'd be saying my final prayers if I ever saw a bear like that in the wild - you can't outrun it, you can't out-fight it and you sure as hell ain't climbing a tree to escape...

The instinct to run must have been overwhelming. Worst thing you can do though. Basically you have to accept that you have no control over what's about to happen and hope the bear doesn't see you as a threat or food.

Great story to have for later in life though.

I've actually had it happen but it was a black bear, not a grizzly.

I honestly would just start punching it in the face. Yeah it’s a grizzly but that doesn’t mean it’s invincible to punches, elbows, and kicks.

People just have this idea we are powerless. Square up and box the furry ****it’s snout and eyes.

I feel this is staged or that grizzly has been around alot of humans. Wild animals are not normally friendly or walk around humans with such ease.

And like being around most large animals, yes would chit pants, hell i chit my pants when i seen a moose for the first time, those fukkers can kill as well

Dude just strolled past them, checked out his picture on the bulletin board to make sure no one put graffiti on him and then walked away.

I don't think they did the right thing in that situation. From what I understand with a Grizzly you can talk to them from afar to see if they run but once they're up close you lay down and play dead and hope the bear doesn't accidentally kill you when it comes to check you out.

A Black Bear you can stand your ground and talk to it and make noise, but not with a Grizzly.

They're sooo lucky.
