Man these are all artists I’ve been following fairly closely for years so I have their social media and get updates when new chit drops. I would just say to ignore the trending music charts. They’re almost all trash. Find a few talented rappers/producers to follow. DJ Premier is one who is constantly promoting other quality hip hop artists both OGs and new. Revolt is another solid page that keeps up with the culture (warning: they do get very political).

There might be some other forums or subreddits for hip hop too. Not sure I don’t check for those sites anymore but UGHH used to be a good one before they shut down.

By the way, who else is excited for this new Nas album dropping at midnight? Track list looks really good.

I posted my initial thoughts in the album thread but here are my favorite tracks from the new Nas album.

Rare:


Lyrically on point, smooth flows in and out, Nas effortlessly riding those beat switches, showing us why he truly is one of the best to ever touch the mic. Nasty!

Nobody ft. Lauryn Hill:


Classic production and how great was Lauryn Hill? Both emcees delivered great verses but she killed it.

Nas Is Good:


Beautiful way to close the album. I just love the production on this one.

EPMD 2 ft. Eminem & EPMD:


I’ve been critical of Eminem in recent years and yeah he probably should’ve slowed down and matched Nas’ and EPMD’s cadence, but come on this is the first time these two legends worked together and it came out crazy good.

Some honorable mentions are Death Row East, The Pressure and Store Run. YKTV was a solid new school sound too. Great album overall.

Dang, eminem repping J Dilla in that EPMD 2 verse.

IMO, Nas kinda lost touch with the streets in a way Jay-Z never did in terms of lyrical content. Haven't been really excited about a Nas release since I AM tbh.
