Movies are just expensive af tbh. On one hand I do like going to the cinema for the experience... But I also have a dolby atmos surround at home with an oled TV... So the movie theater in my living room is pretty dope too.
If they give me an option to buy it at home that's what I'm doing. With this so called delta variant alot of peeps still prob not going to places like the movies.

Now that nearly everyone has a big screen TV and surround sound, it's hardly worth the hassle and cost of going to a movie theater.

I watched this over the weekend. It was definitely better than the original, but that's not saying much. It was worth a watch if you're bored.

That about wraps is up for movie theaters, one of the biggest "tentpole" blockbusters with a $185m budget.
It sucks tbh, I get movies at home are more convenient since you can pause, get a snack etc but movies feel so different in the big theater surrounded by other people laughing or cheering. Same things as concerts - if you think sitting in your living room watching a band's live stream is anything compared to actually being there, I pity you. Doesn't matter how good your av setup is.
And there is no hard and fast rule but the studios supposedly get around 45% of the Box Office, so of course they have every incentive to try and make home streaming the norm. Disney offered Black Widow at $30 - if you want to see that movie $30 in the comfort of home is pretty solid value compared to price of movie tickets and popcorn.

If I want to take my two kids to a movie in a theatre it's a $100 outing between tickets and snacks. They are just as happy watching at home and we can order pizza for $25. Plus you don't have to deal with seats, other people making noise, etc. Only difference is the experience isn't quite the same, but none of us care about that.
I'm sure that the studio gets a cut of people ordering it off of HBO Max or the $30 Black Widow cost from Disney Plus so that should be factored into the overall take, should it not?

Movie was a fun watch.
Anyone looking into it more then that... Just lol.
Let's be real. If covid never existed this movie would have done well in the box office. They put it on HBO max. Even Disney made you buy the movie at home, this one was totally free on HBO max

I think the time for huge billion dollar movies is over, they should return to actual film making like they did in the 70s and make actually compelling movies - although they're fuked there too, since TV does it already and has so much more time to tell what they want to tell.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

He explains why movies are the way they are today. There's basically 0 revenue from dvds anymore which was a Huge part of movie profits. Now movies have to make all that budget back on theater release alone.
Basically he says it has severely changed what studios will green light. These popcorn flicks make easy money back in hmthe theaters.
Sooo many movies from the 90s Era didn't make their bank on theaters but over the years on DVD sales. Tons of movies became cult classics literally flopping in theaters but making bank on dvds.
That doesn't exist anymore so studios just want to pump out those popcorn flicks.

problem is the studios are now going to have to pay the actors WAY more.
Look what is going with Emma Stone and Scarlet Johansson. They are both suing disney because pre pandemic they made a deal to a cut of the movie sales. Johansson was supposed to make around 50+ million from that film being in theatres.
This will either make these stars demand obscene amounts of money to do a film if it goes on stream. This is the decline of Hollywood. You can blame covid, but in reality its mostly just the advancement of technology and the constant woke politics that are driving people away. Streaming was always going to take over. It was just a matter of time. Covid sped that up. No one feels bad for them thats the best part, and they dont like that. They seem to think we need them. We dont. Theres tons of smaller budget films from foreign countries which have great actors we just never hear of them. Its about time unholywood died. Its been 100 years. Its been a good run

Its how Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamil, and any OG star wars actor made their bank. It wasn't from the paycheck for the films. DVD's, action figures, spin off cartoons, comics, etc.

People chitting on the movie itt, I won't tell people what to like or not (I actually enjoyed it more than many here) but quality-wise, it's hard to argue that this movie somehow was less entertaining than say "Ant Man and the Wasp", that it lacked starpower compared to that or somehow the marketing of the movie was somehow completely wrong.
Quality-wise, again even if you did not particularly enjoy it, was at least on the same level as Antman2.
Star power, it was at least on the same level as Antman2.
Marketing, it was probably around the same level as Antman2.
Two knocks against it, a) Antman2 was a "Marvel" movie and had a built-in audience, the DCU isn't there. That's fine, but we're talking a 30mil opening vs something like 100m for AM&W.
b) TSS is overcoming the badwill of the lousy first one, which sometimes happens with superior sequels following a chit movie.
I think it's more the later on this one, most people were done after the boring, stupid and mess of the first one.
Hopefully this one finds it's footing somehow due to word of mouth or whatnot, but without DVD sales to fall back on, it might be fuked.
