Was looking up something on YouTube and came across this ad from that if i go solar, will get $2k check and $1k from govt plus no upfront cost? Up to $200 off electric bill apparently every month.

Any experience with solar panels? Is this legit?

What happens when roof needs replacement 10 or 20 yrs down the road? Remove solar panels first?

i then ask him how much id get in return for producing electricity and he proceeds to say he had no idea because "he doesnt know my electric production" but in the same breath can tell me exactly how many solar panels ill needs for my usage. well then you know my production ya genius. so that meant dude was trying to hide something if he plays dumb when it comes to how much money IM going to make off of it. and what do you wanna bet that extra between what you produce minus what you use just goes in to their pockets, not yours because he kept on saying "we we we just wanna get rid of your electric bill."

also that rebate has to go towards paying off your system or else your monthly payments i think double after 18 months. so there is no "rebate." salesman is a pos, they tried that with me.

You know what I just recalled having this conversation few years ago at sams club with some company marketing the same.

I ran some basic math and was gonna loose money in the long haul.

My electric bill has gone through the roof though. Went from being $150 (thermostat at 77 in summer) to $370 plus (thermostat at 73 during the night from 1am to 12pm and 77 rest of the day).

Fuking cray. Oh well. Keep on paying that bill cuz my chick gets super hot at night

I have no clue about this but your state probably has things that you can do to weatherize or get energy efficient items (A/C, Washer/Dryer etc) and you can get rebates.

Also check to see if your state has a Homestead Exemption plan where if you live in your house for more than a year they will knock a certain amount off your home so you pay less taxes. My state will knock of 25k off the value of a home.

Force people to go solar and then manipulate the weather like they do in *****. Fckn lol @ going solar.

A friend dropped money into solar panels around 10 years ago for about 15k and he sometimes gets a debit from the power company. Rarely owes much, so it's about a wash. My power bill is often over 200 a month so you can make a bit, but it's not vast savings. Maybe as the tech improves it will be.

I worked in the solar industry. The 2-3k is most likely a federal tax credit. Depending on your location, you either earn credits with your power company, or they send you a check for any power you overproduce and circulate back into the grid.

Edit: it rarely adds value to a home because realtors rarely take it into account and do not care to list it as a feature. At most maybe a 2-4% increase. At the end, you break even if they do include it. We tried to finance the payments to where they were equal to or less than a homeowners current power bill.

That’s bit bad. Are there batteries that need replacing? Maintenance costs? $15k for the system equals $125 per month for 10 yrs. after that it is paid off provided there were no maintenance costs. Hmmm
