Tell the world you can be an Australian citizen and shackled to a 5km radius with a curfew. Permits and passes to enter states. If you decide to roll the dice and cross the border when lockdowns are relaxed and one of those locations you visited is declared a hotspot upon your return you'll be treated like a leper.

I don't see it. Sure, NYC is attempting to enforce passports. Emphasis on attempting because it will be a chitshow with vast amounts of minorities now barred from restaurants/bars/etc. That city is not at all representative of the entire country. The federal gov't mobilizing the military against 350M citizens will cost democrats big in 2022 and 2024. They won't make that drastic of a move.

Couldn't agree more. Royal Commission into the Hotel Quarantine debacle in Victoria just led to politicians saying "I can't remember". There was bugger all accountability from the State Government. Less accountability from a Federal level either.

They are STARTING to build facilities for quarantining people, however they aren't ready yet. Federal Government IMO have dropped the ball significantly from start to finish. The hotel quarantine should have only been used as a short term solution. There was always going to be escapes they were built for tourists. Not to contain an airborne virus.

The initial power given to State Premiers should have been revoked and the Federal Government should have taking control because the whole thing has been a fiasco (although I'm hardly convinced they could've done any better). Turned us into a laughing stock.

Imagine having hotel quarantine in the most densely population areas of our countries.. our capital cities. Laughable.

I was watching the English Premier League on the weekend. Stadiums packed to the rafters, barely any masks.

No squealing about super spreader events, no impromptu lockdowns, no 5k fines for going for a walk outside.
