They still don't have anything that resembles human consciousness which is required for the machine to posess a sense of purpose and to pursue high level goals without further task breakdown.

I'm willing to bet any crew within ten years will have at least one to do these heavy tasks so that the workers doing the fine stuff don't strain themselves.
If I were going to get into a profession thinking forward five years, it would be robotic engineering or repair.

I just dont see it as a realistic technological advance to happen for a long long time.
I just dont see it as a realistic technological advance to happen for a long long time.
People are buying amazon echo dots just so they can turn on the light or TV without pressing a button themselves. Then theres already robotic vacuum machines out there...
If you think we are not in the process of becoming more and more automated then you are wrong.
Just wait for Virtual Reality to pop off within the next 10-15 years, then the fun starts...
Also even robots like this like already mentioned before me - can do tasks 24/7 with just one off payment.

Why even have Drs or engineers... just let the Mexicans do everything and google it along the way. It'll all work out.

It's in it's first stages and there's a lot of manual labor, form work and all kinds of chit. A lot of steel work and all.
Let me tell you something, there is no way robots will be able to replace tradesman in the next 50 years, at least not the likes of carpenters, plumbers, electricians. Building is complex, it takes a lot of time, quick thinking tradesman and it's not easy to get in and out around the site. A lot of chit needs to be precise, it's not something a robot could do, not in the near future at least.

Elon slacking. Dudes starts up like 50 projects and never finishes them. I think his whole ploy is to create hype for fake projects and only focus on his cars. The car is the only project he's been successful in to my knowledge. The hyperloop, the semi trucks that were suppose to transform the shipping industry, the solar panel roofing shingles, there's more I just can't remember that the project just stalled out.
