I live near the only tea plantation in USA, AMA.

They make tea for Lipton and a bunch of other brands. Here is a video of their 10x6 mile field and video of their tourist shop where you can sample cold brew teas and hot brewed teas.

best farm to table restaurant in Charleston currently?

that would be the only reason I visit Charleston + the great local seafood

There's a winery on Wadmalaw island too, pick your own fruit farm as well. They just started producing mead's too......very delicious wines and mead's. The food trucks are amazing and the grounds are awesome.

I don't know how we got so associated with having amazing seafood TBH. I think Savannah has much better options......
Fig is a great restaurant doing FTT. Husk I have never been to but hear great things......

When/if you go bruh, hit up Gin Joint......whimsical cocktail lounge that offers up tiny app's of local cheeses from Clemson, and other local veg/fruits.

Thank you. Yeah I think I saw Husk featured on a cooking show. And apparently there is top tier BBQ scattered around there

I think the main attraction seafood wise would be the softshell crabs since a lot of the fishing areas around there are tidal mudflats

True about the crabs, and our oysters are decent....but usually always clusters and difficult to find singles. I was a butcher for many years and preferred VA oysters to ours....

looks good. but thats a good example of how they seem to have preserved colonial aspects of cooking true to the south and incorporated it into modern techniques and dishes. talking things like beans, collards, cornbread, local produce. lots of whole ingredients and no shortcuts.

saw one pitmaster from there who basically operates a smoker all night long and its considered one of the best in that area

You're probably talking about Rodney Scott's? After it became famous and he found investors, its nothing that it once was......its still good but I have had better elsewhere in South Carolina. Lots of hole in the wall bbq most visitors don't know about that locals keep secret lol


Edit: And yes, when a chef or pittmaster who isn't from here realizes we are traditional when it comes to food.....its great to see them adapting and also adopting the ways we do things.

But also, I loathe that we aren't as multi-cultural with our food. I love and adore pho and Vietnamese food.....only one amazing pho place here in the Charleston area. There is one amazing sushi place that the chef did go over to Japan and trained for 11-12 years under a head sushi chef.......in Mt Pleasant, SC forgot the name of the restaurant off the top of my head tho.

Yeah I think that's it. Have never had it but not surprised if he sold it for higher pasture lol. Have heard good things about the smoking pig which is around Clemson

Depends on where you live-down here in the South Twinings. Up North probably Yorkshire, PG or Tetley-depending on where you reside. Overall probably Yorkshire.

Clemson and Greenville......both are booming big time and bringing good food with them. If they were not booming as quickly as they are, I would move there.

I am looking to move somewhere like Hollywood, or Adam's Run. Land is cheap, housing is cheap......no one's around and the land is too mushy to build any industry out there.

That would be ideal, but with weather getting crazier with all the glaciers melting, that might be one of the first places to see elevated flooding from rising sea levels. I think America will see the biggest influx to the midwest in the next century, and places like Utah and Idaho are already seeing it with Californians trying to escape the liberalism and taxes

Agreed, yeah most of Charleston is actually under sea level. When it rains over 2 inches downtown gets flooded:

Their own brand (Charleston Tea Co.) is the premium stuff......or maybe fresher stuff. The other brands just buy whats left over form their yeild.

The samples they have to offer are the freshest of the lot. The samples honestly, I could stay there all day sitting on dat der rocking chair......sipping
