TBH that was a pretty good response and I think he handled the situation really well. Also lol'd that he used the familar form when addressing the reporter-- which is considered pretty disrespectful in this context.

Khabib is a combat athlete, not a phucking think tank ****got. And frankly, fielding that question is a massive lose-lose for him-- if he says he doesn't support the Taliban there will be some Muslim kents who say he shouldn't criticize fellow believers. If he says he does support the Taliban, the Russian government would phuck him super hard under their anti-extremism laws.

reporter didnt ask him if he supported the taliban, he asked him what he thought of whats happening in afghanistan which is a pretty wide open question. Khabib is pissy because he knows the guy asked him since hes muslim and he has a history of defending some of the muslims the west designates undesirable. Reporter gave him an open ended question but he preferred to duck it, because if he didnt word it just right its goign to piss off either western people or the taliban.

The taliban are respected in my eyes. Those guys have their own gov as well as the usa gov bombing them and still keep fighting for their faith. That’s amazing.

Why should he have to speak on the Taliban just because he is Muslim? The Taliban practice a pretty haram form of Islam in a lot of people's eyes and Sufist Dagestanis are about as civil and chill as they come in terms of Muslim brahs.

That's basically what he did say isn't it? He asked the reporter why he was asking about Afghanistan and then said he wanted to talk about the matter at hand, Russian sport, rather than some political conflict a thousand miles away.

It would be a massive faux pas for him to criticize Muslims of any kind to a non-Muslim (and I assume that the questioner was an ethnic Russian based on how he spoke), and frankly, based on his other political statements in the past, I'd wager that he probably supports the Taliban more than he supports what he views as western imperialism in Aghanistan.

Dagestan has been a subject nation of Russia for a long time, and there's a lot of bad blood over that. I assume Khabib likens his own people to those in Afghanistan.

Reporter tried to bait him but Khabib wasn't taking the bait. We all know Khabib supports the Taliban, but he as he said, this is was an important moment for Russian sports and so he was correct in avoiding political commentary.
Everything I post is satire.

That's like assuming all Christians support burning crosses on people's lawns.

It's a ridiculous assumption.

Except it's not because Muslims are actually all insane and should honestly be eradicated from the planet. They're a special case

This guy chose to have a former terrorist as his manager and has also done private visits to the Chechnyan dictator who has murdered and tortured hundreds of people....I think it's clear what he thinks about the Taliban.
There is but one path....we kill them all.

I don’t think it’s that ridiculous. Khabib is a super conservative Muslim and while he’s probably opposed to sharia law and banging little boys, like most reasonably normal Muslims, I bet he tacitly supports them like nearly 100% of Muslim posters on this forum who just whataboutism away every critique of the taliban by talking about us foreign policy out of context.

This. There's really no such thing as a reasonably normal Muslim though. Just a Muslim that isn't quite at that fanatical level yet. Its not a question of if but when

well he was given the opportunity to be clear by the reporter but he chose to left it ambiguous. He intentionally did not say anything negative about the taliban. I wonder why?

Not sure what that proves lol.

You do know Ali manages a ton of fighters. I think he’s the most popular manager in the UFC lmao. And that Chechen dictator likes MMA a lot. Pretty sure he invites a lot of stars like Mike Tyson, Frank Mir etc to his house or to MMA events…
