Tips for finding a therapist? (srs)

Really at the end of my rope, but I finally (should) have the means to talk to a therapist.

How do you go about finding one? Google reviews? I see there are some matching services.

Also unsure on whether to see a male or female therapist. Seems like a lot of therapists are female, but I worry a female therapist wouldn't get how bad dating can be for a guy (dating is probably one of my bigger frustrations).

Wondering if it's worth looking for a therapist experienced with autism because there's a good chance I am autism. Seems like that's a bit rare for adult therapists though.

Not really. I'd expect they'd give me some degree of advice on how to/where to go to be less autizmo, but I am not expecting a ton of dating advice.

I think I am depressed, so that's the main reason I'd go.

Yeah, that’s usually the reason people see one. That and anxiety. Try local reviews near your location and see what people say. Man/woman. That’s your preference. Would you rather be talking to a man or a woman about your concerns? Worst case scenario, you can always change therapists. Best of luck.

Agreed, one of my main concerns is making sure they're not dumb/crazy and have similar enough values.
