in case anyone was wondering, a '250 lb dose' of the kind 'not approved for human use,' 1.87% ivermectin paste, and containing a dose equiv [on back of box] to '91 mcg per lb' ...contains 22.75 mg ivermection per one 250 lb section of paste medication.... which is close enough to the same dose as the 'early at home treatment protocol' for infected horses
91 mcg per lb
91 mcg = 0.000091 g
0.000091 g x 250 lb = 0.02275 g = 22.75 mg
if you go this route, make sure it's ivermectin only and not ivermectin plus another med such as praziquantel or anything else; just 1.87% ivermectin or your horses might get sick
ps. they call it a 'paste' but it's really more like clear apple jelly. you can just plunger the appropriate amount out onto your finger and give it to the horse
