All my fishing gear is being packed up and I'm moving to California. Leaving the beautiful gulf coast salt water fishing for Northern California. Trout and salmon are on the menu.

Nice metrobrah!
Hitting a pretty good size farm pond in the am. Never had any cows in the pasture, and really clean water. Got two main points of structure, one being a huge old ass hardwood. Gonna hit around the stump. Other being some Christmas trees. Gonna try this new beautiful green Shakey head worm i got. Also gonna try my frogs out on this small corner of Lily pads .

Got my personal best musky on Sunday.

Caught it on this home made dive and rise. First time using an airbrush. 11.5" Two musky on this lure in the last week.

Carved and painted this one in a cisco pattern also. Works great, but wont run it till fall when the cisco move in to spawn and the musky start chasing them.

Found a nice shore spot to catch bass and perch. Got a 17.5" largemouth and 16" smallmouth and a bunch of other decent sized ones. The 16" smally was a fatty, too. Was almost as thick as it was long. No pics, though, since I was fishing alone and wanted to make sure it survived. I've been getting a good amount of perch, too, which is always nice.
Fishing worms on bottom. It's a super light bite so I kept missing perch bites, so I started making the line tight when it's in the water and then the rod tip moves just a tiny bit when they bite. Gotta pay attention, though. It's almost as light as it is ice fishing for them.
Can't trout fish now due to construction so might as well get some delicious perch

It's incredible how big of a difference watching professional bass fisherman videos on youtube has improved my ability to actually catch fish, even as a recreational angler. It's a lot more fun too, the way I can approach any body of water with an actual strategy

Finished this 12 1/2" deep diver last night. Clear laminated western red cedar, lexan lip, through wire, thick epoxy coat, and way more sparkle than a photograph can show. Swims real nice.
Fishing for 3 days straight 17th-19th. Hoping to break 50" on the musky. I am sure ibuprofen and Red Bull will be taking the wheel by the middle of the third 16 hour day of casting...
RIP elbows

As for color, I have had pike hit at lures when testing the action at dockside, totally unpainted, raw wood. I feel like a simple black and white would catch fish, or even wood color with a white or yellow belly. Does it give each lure a bit of an edge? Maybe. Sometimes one certain color does seem to excel over others..
But with a few exceptions including for flash and basic colors, I think fancy painted lures are just a matter of pride for the guy painting them, or to catch the eye of the fisherman buying it.
