Lets say i have a great idea for an APP (misc programmers GTFIH)
What would be the basic route to take to start developing it? I think it could potentially be a VERY big thing. Also potential cost of creating a high quality app?

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

The issue being is that great ones make 6 figures a year. So why would they leave their current job making big $ for a measly chance to work for a guy who hasno idea what he's doing.
The instance your idea gets traction on the internet get ready for competition with other big corporations creating bigger and better apps faster.
You might have to literally program this in silence for years before you roll out the app. And when you do you got to spend millions in marketing and advertising.
You either got to get some investors or hope you ahve money

How much it will cost will really depend on what the app does.
If you want, you can pm me the generals, and I can tell you what the system would probably need to look like for your app. Could probably give at least some idea of a time estimate for a prototype at least.
E: metaphor for the cost, think about if somebody asked you how much it would cost to build a building. Really need to figure out size of building, what it's going to be used for, what's the location cost, how much to make it stable/weatherproof. Chit with apps will vary a bunch in the same manner.

Option 1. Sell the idea to VCs for funding and essentially use the money to pay for good devs and marketing/sales.
Option 2. Sell the idea to programmer friends and enrol him/them as a technical co-founder in charge of creating a minimum viable product. You pay them with equity essentially. If nothing comes out of it only time and energy is lost.
Option 3. Start coding yourself. If the idea is digital media use out of the box solutions with minimal setup time - squarespace websites, patreon/onlyfans, youtube.

There is a huge market to be exploited here and nobody is doing it, if you are familiar with the kind of stuff i usually post about here you may have an idea of what is this about. This will aliviate much of the frustration that the average person has nowadays in terms of their personal lives. There is no such thing as a grace period unless the people you hire sign a confidentiality agreement and even then there's no stopping what a programmer can do to steal the idea and just twist it to make it better than yours. This has happened all too commonly amoung start up apps and companies (******** snapcaht, etc.). The founder of the idea isn't necessarily the person who makes it out on top. And the giants can come in at any time and steal an idea unless you have a Paton on the way this "idea" was designed" etc.
Other thing is that you can't just hand this off and expect a salaried employee to do all the work as you. They don't care if the idea works or not they are there for the pay check. You are going to have to be doing the majority of the vision, leadership, and direction.
No idea about the laws in your country. Unless you know this idea will make change the world it may be just a better idea to hold off on it. You have no experience and if you knew the stories of the start up companies of twitter and snapchat you know it wasn't a few years thing tog et to the top. the ideas and customers and technology changed over a long decade period. Snapchat started as a sexting idea marketed toward adults and twitter started as a SMS text message idea that was supposed to initially used as an alert to a group of friends.
Whatever you decide, good luck and know it will cost you money and time of your life that you won't get back. Sounds like you're already running a company and making 6 figures. Not sure if you want to spent 10+ years with just an idea taking out millions of dollars in debt and lose countless memories just to have a shot at making it big.

Honestly, i could lead and organize the developers no problem, and i could give the app an structure. I already have an idea of how could it work, what would be the steps, what things to program etc. I just have no clue how to take it from my mind into a screen and also law-wise whats the deal with other companies stealing it. I for sure would have people sign a confidentiality agreement.
If you are really talking about an investetment of 1M+ dollars then yeah, thats out of the question. May have a few hundred K to spare but im not on that millionaire level. We do have good programmers here in Mexico tho, and much cheaper than US id bet.

You need to do UX research and figure out what key features to build and flesh out an MVP. Otherwise you'll waste time and money building a bloated mess.
The thing about not understanding how to code is you don't know what good code looks like. If you have someone you can trust that can audit the code for you I'd consider that valuable.
You should also know that literally everyone with an app idea says the exact same thing as you.
