50 - Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, book #1). I turned my brother in law onto the Dresden Files, and he recommended this as something similar while we wait patiently for Jim Butcher to write the next one of those. My library doesn't have these in ebook so I will probably read the physical books.

51 - The Splendid and The Vile, Erik Larsen's book about the World War bombing of Britain and the Blitz. Highly recommended.

52 - Dead Wake, another Erik Larsen, this one about the Lusitania. These were books 1 & 2 for me by Larsen, I've added everything else by him to my reading list for next year. I heard "The Devil & The White City" is excellent.

I always count a book as one, but the fact that I routinely knock out a few 1200 page doorstops a year makes me not feel bad about counting the occassional 100 pager. A book is a book. Congrats on beating Avalanche tho loool.

I read the Iron Druid Chronicles several years ago. The last couple of books started going down hill once he took on his apprentice. To the point I didn't even read the last book in the series.

I heard that from my brother in law. I DO like the fact that the series is done, since I'm into so many fantasy series that have no end on the horizon (Rothfuss you mother fukker) so we'll see.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams – 7/10

Instead of saying what this is about I think I will just draw a comparison instead. I always get the impression that this is a lot like Monty Python meets Star Wars (or absurd meets Sci-Fi). HGTTG has a very British humor to it that isn't really for me, but it is still interesting in a nerdy kind of way. A bit to silly for the most part but still has quite a bit of imaginative thinking that went into this, and that I can appreciate.

We Begin At The End - Chris Whitaker – 8/10

This story takes place in small town America where Walk, who is the chief of police, is about to reunite with his best friend from childhood (Vincent) after serving the last 30 years in prison. Star is a mother of two and is both good friends with Walk and the former girlfriend of Vincent. Tragic events will separate Star from her children and once again Vincent will be at the center of controversy, where Walk will have to find a way of proving Vincent's innocence. In summery, all I can say is this is sad, tragic, disheartening, clever, funny, and heartwarming with a few good twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing at how everything is going to turn out.

They Both Die at the End - Adam Silvera – 9/10

Mateo is 18 years old and he's going to die sometime in the next 24 hours according to Death-cast. com. He doesn't exactly know when or how but it's going to happen today. Rufus is 17 years old and it's also his last day today. They meet through an app called "last friends" where they get to know each other and live out final hours together in NYC. When everything is a risk is it better to go out and have some fun or not take any risks at all? Really interesting story!

Message is to focus on improving yourself to the point where there actually will be an ROI for your average dude. Very low ROI and probability of success if you are not top tier or don't get lucky.

Surmised to 1-2% of females are actually marriageable in the modern Western world. Naturally they are being pursed by everyone so if you can't beat everyone (or at least compete) don't waste your time.

Enjoyed the previous book so read another from author.

This is definitely an extended blog post. Some interesting thoughts/ideas but is basically a rant about why the world sucks if you are High IQ (because the world has been built for the majority) whereas if your IQ is in the tail of the bell curve you will likely end up bored and alone.

That said, message of the book is that there is hope, however, you need to be a bit more proactive with relationships, not descending into drugs/alcohol to escape boredom, become self-employed because lower IQ bosses with hamper your career growth...etc

4-5/10. Ok if you want to knock over a book in an afternoon

Cappy reps when you're out of bann camp. I have one of his books i finished this year on my list. Book of numbers seemed interesting and will likely be a cop just for an interesting/fun read. And yeah it's safe to say his writing is similar to blogging.

Another book on dividends which gave info i knew about based from previous dividend books but put more emphasis on certain investments such as MLP's and reminded me of other topics explained in the book. Their bonuses I just received so i'm gonna peep those out, but it's always good to see a criteria authors/companies give you in terms of picking stocks. Their position number is also similar to the "How to retire on dividends." book in that they say 20 positions. Brett O's book goes into more about closed end funds and such but the book's still a dope read, gives you stocks they recommend to start with, dividend stocks, even stocks that if you want to put the portfolio on cruise control, along with a ratio of 60/30/10 of funds, stocks, and alternative assets: gold,sliver, bitcoin, etc.

I think you've already answered to your own question yourself.

I usually usex8 speedwhich is within the capacity of my MP player speed settings. My readings are always pure entertainment, novels. So it should have never been the problem unless this happens...

I lost count of how many books I've read this year, ordinarily I keep them listed on a document on my comp but I slacked off with that. I'm getting close to 52 though, I'm sure. I just finished this one:




It was relevant to my thesis. It develops a theme that the cognitive and life sciences underwent, or should have underwent, a radical shift in perspective around the mid-20th century which would require a relaxation of the idea of 'objective reality'. What the study of non-linear systems, emergence, autopoesis and self-organization of living systems taught us that a systems observations of its environment are autonomously constructed by their own processes of self-organization. We need to construct a science of systems that observe themselves and the co-creation of theorist and theorizer.

I don't know if anyone else reads into this sort of stuff, but I find it fascinating.
