Here It Comes: Death of the Petrodollar. WW III???

The US dropped the gold standard [dollars convertible to gold by foreign governments] in 1971. The US$ has carried on propped up by US military power and the exclusivity of oil only being sold in US$ which meant that other countries had to buy US$ to buy gold.

Some cracks in this system started to show up around the 07-08 financial crisis when many countries entered into currency swap agreements to work around the need for US$. Now there have been agreements made to sell oil in EUR and in CNY and the Saudis have entered into a military agreement with Russia.

The gentleman who made this video expects that will lead to some type of WWIII with the US on one side and China + Russia on the other side.

Screenshots of peace:

Notice:the article about the Saudis signing a military agreement with Russia is recent; August 21.

It isn't exactly shocking that our trading partners might decide that US$ aren't worth much anymore.

Notice that the Fed says that they havediscontinuedthis chart [M1] and will no longer be updating it.

They stopped reporting M3 in 2006:

The are still tracking M2, but now only reporting monthly instead of weekly:
Previously, the M2 data series was updated on a weekly basis, ending on Mondays. The M2 successor, M2SL, will be updated instead on a monthly basis. Regardless, this does not change whether or not we will be able to monitor changes in the monetary base, only the frequency at which it is made available.

******

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell has made it clear that he sees no issue with the rising monetary base and the potential for inflation to kick in this summer, as the economy recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Inflation is not a problem for this time as near as I can figure. Right now, M2 [money supply] does not really have important implications. It is something we have to unlearn.”
Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Federal Reserve
The Fed’s decision to switch to a regime of average inflation targeting from their previous 2% target is a whole other story I plan on addressing in a separate Substack post, but it is relevant to mention here, as M2 data plays a crucial role in the creation of inflationary indicators.

In addition, while the weekly average seasonally adjusted data is being replaced by the M2SL and will no longer be available, weekly non-seasonally adjusted M2 data will still remain available as the WM2NS, although it will only be updated on a monthly basis.

Not sure how this qualifies as a conspiracy theory when it is all out in the open.

I went on a deep dive about the financial stuff that was going on in 07-08. Otherwise I would probably not know about the discontinuation of M3 reporting that happened then or the currency swaps that were set up.

I put question marks on WWIII because it's questionable. I don't know that such a thing absolutely will happen, but other countries trying to put space between their economies and the US$/US economy started over a decade ago.

I thought the Saudis signing a military agreement with Russia was kind of a big deal.

possible outcome
this is why people
and rich are investing
in lands and other assests.
if it occured it may push dollar
into more loss of its value and it may end
like the british pound lossing a 20-30% of its
global share in months. like what happened

We've basically been taxing the world for a while with the petrodollar. Countries have to keeps stacks of USD around to buy oil, then we inflate their dollars to chit so that they need to buy more USD to get the same amount of oil.

Other countries aren't gonna deal with that chit forever.

Yeah we dropped the gold standard but the euro, for example, isn't backed by anything either as far as I know.

What currency has real, tangible value? None that I can think of. I haven't seen a convincing argument backed with facts that says we're screwed, although this is partially due to fiat currency being a relatively new thing. 1971 to now isn't a long time.

Do you think so? What about the argument that the EUR is inherently weak as a currency because they can't adjust monetary policy so that it meets the economic needs of such different economies?

Could end up problematic if one of the eu countries become a huge exporter and can't devalue the currency like other countries do.

but i don't see that happening to be honest. What i do see is east europe economy's booming and the EU is trying to connect the economy's through alot of huge infrastructure projects.

I do believe the euro economy will boom, with poland becoming a second germany.

But like I said I think that moves started being made in 07-08.

And we just inflated the hell out of our currency.

I thought that the Chinese pegged their yuan to the US$ specifically to give them a trade advantage. Don't know if anyone can confirm, but I've read that some Chinese products that are sold very cheaply here are actually sold for a higher price in China to their own consumers. Could be fake news.

Like trains and highways? I've been poking around a bit reading on eastern Europe countries. Some of the common gripes are dirty cities, lack of good public transport, and scary bad drivers.

The last time the EUR was getting beat up in the press was also 07-08. Mostly article about Greece and how they needed a weak currency to help them recover, but they were stuck with a stronger currency. And IIRC that was the spark for Brexit too.

What makes you think we're not already in WW3? Infiltrating our universities, flipping the sexes and races on eachother, turning ppl gay. They don't need to kill anymore when they can just brainwash ppl not to breed. Countries go to war to take land and establish their government in that region. Let's see here... Does china own a huge portion of US Land? Check. who do you think bought up all those business that went under? Is our government slowely starting to mimic china's? Check. We're in the middle of WW3 now sweety.

Completely possible that there is a so-called "cold war" under way. Russia and China manipulating US social media. "Hackers" attacking US agencies and companies.

Someone in R&P gave good cliffs on the Chinese scientist who was working in a Canadian lab and transported viral material to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. Read that the same type of material is in Covid, but that is unconfirmed/speculative.
