Lmao laptop prices

Had a rtx3080 laptop in my cart ready to purchase then noticed it was a 105w version....less actual power use than a laptop rtx 3070....check the benches and it's indeed complete chit...worse than cheaper rtx3070 laptops. Wtf is the point in this? Tbh, desktop rtx3070s are already mediocre. A laptop rtx3060 is comparable with a 980ti lmao lmao lmao.


Who's buying these 1500-1700$ rtx3060 laptops fukking lmao

Right now it seems like you can get a solid 130w rtx3070 laptop with 11th gen i7 for under 2k$ usd ? Is the only way to go right now?

it's a thing to check now how much watts are dedicated to the GPU when you buy a loltop

But keep in mind laptops GPU's will always perform less beause of power and thermals

IDK why they even use desktop equivalent numbers as they never perform the same.

AMD RDNA2 cards would be a better bet in a lower power state.

Low power GPU's are intended for smaller/thinner laptops. When you're thinking about getting a gaming laptop you really want to research it and make sure it's got good thermal performance, and most big manufacturers suck at thermal performance. I went with a specialty manufacturer like Falcon Northwest for mine, always been happy with the performance.

Doesn’t matter what GPU it has when the dumbass manufacturers don’t allow them enough power to even boost 50% of their potential lol.
But of course it’s also because they don’t have good enough cooling solutions for them to have that much power.

Laptops are a big circle of **** performance honestly.
- Need the power for the performance.
- Can’t have the power for the performance because don’t have adequate cooling.
- And also the necessary power for the performance makes the battery life dog**** so your portable laptop will need to be constantly plugged in.

Why not just buy a small form desktop pc instead of a laptop? My friend bought a rig the other day, it was quite pricey but it had a 3060 super/ti or some variant in that line and the tower itself was tiny. I mean yeah, its not as portable as a laptop can be, but it still looks small enough to move around. Buying a "gaming" laptop is just a waste of money.

Get a Corsair keyboard with low profile keys. Ergonomic as your wrist isn't at a ****ty angle, and the feel is between a mechanical and laptop.

No doubt laptops are absolute POS compared to desktop...

but I already have 3 other gaming PCs. I just want something I can play resident evil games on without my kids seeing the screen.

I think I'm holding out for QHD 6800m laptop release.

RTX 3070 desktops are mediocre? I got mine for 500 and with an OC I am right in line with a 2080ti.

Damn I didn't know how desperate the laptop market is right now.

If my work is based in 1 location, I'll be ok with my desktop.
I bought a 15 inch Zephyrus with 5900HS and 3070 so I can bring it anywhere. There's nothing better than gaming and drinking in a hotel room without your wife bothering you lol.
And honestly, got no complaints. Framerates and temps are great for the games I am playing.

My 6 yr old son has already taken over my desktop too.

Had to replace my dad's laptop a little while ago. It is expensive if you want "high end" sort of junk.

Thankfully he just needs base level stuff - google has free word/excel.

That's what I've been saying. Most big manufacturers just make built to price specials that perform like chit, the kind of laptops that are sold on their specs for price as opposed to performance. Proper gaming laptops that are setup smartly are fantastic these days, easily the best gaming laptops have ever been. My gaming laptop can play everything I throw at it with settings maxed at 100+ fps, and I pretty much have everything I really like to play on it. I have no idea what these guys are doing who feel a need to have a desktop these days, but I haven't encountered any games that demand it.

It's mostly a question of price.

Spending 3k on a laptop which you cannot update is something you think of.

3k on a PC is something that will last you a decade with upgrades.

Not really the same point it used to be. When people are paying a grand + for a new GPU, it's no longer really a low cost upgrade scenario. That and as someone who has built many gaming PC's over a couple decades now, I never really liked to upgrade my desktops. I have done it many times, but more often than not what made a computer great was how I set it up originally. By the time the hardware starts to really feel outdated, I pretty much need to upgrade everything anyways. I mean there is a good reason why I am not still using the last desktop I put together, by the time I upgraded the GPU everything else was starting to feel dated and eventually I got the point where I felt like I needed to build an entirely new PC. I ended up going for a laptop because I realized through experience how often I wind up just needing to replace everything anyways, and it honestly didn't cost me much more to get a really nice laptop, if anything a desktop would have been more expensive after I got a monitor. That and desktop PC's just feel really dated to me these days anyways, unless you're some professional needing a serious workplace PC, there is just no need for it.
