This isn't clear, OP. Are you referring to mobile gaming or console and PC gaming? In any cases, most good games are 18+ anyway, but that is only a major matter at purchase. If a child under 18 is caught playing an 18+ game, this wouldn't be "illegal" - only the purchase (if it was purchased by an 18 year old)

China is going to eventually end up like USSR and the likes, I know well enough from my parent's stories as to what they were allowed to buy and have. I think it's pretty obvious either way.

You cannot limit people's freedoms. Drugs, gaming, food, politics, whatever it might be, freedom is the only way forward, that is why U.S. flourished and USSR fell. You can't tell people what to do and when to do it. Gaming is such an important part in any kid's life, restricting it is a suicide. You're raising a generation of kids who are going to hate your political party.
China can work as hard as they want to, all that build up of wealth is not going to help when their own people are going to revolt and demand more freedom.

It's well documented that short bursts of dopamine (ie Youtube, video games) are bad for kids under a certain age. That being said, the state controlling it is a slippery slope for sure. Should be up to the parents, but we all know that nowadays parents would rather let the Ipad take care of their kids.

My kids get limited screen time at 8 and 6 and when they do it's an actual show or movie, not video games until they are definitely older. I've seen way too many parents have to basically deal with a drug addicted kid because they just hand them an Ipad whenever they get bored. We play Pokemon Go together, but I control the phone at all times and they don't have their own devices.

i agree with restrictions on obvious detriments to society. like drinking and driving we agree is bad, right? so is a 9 year old playing video games for 12 hours a day for a decade straight. i'm not even so much agreeing with them just acknowledging the fact that on a long enough timeline this decision will largely benefit china as an entire society
