Afghanistan Withdrawal: Call For Resignations and March On Washington

In an open letter from the group "Flag Officers 4 America," the retired generals argue Austin and Milley showed "negligence in performing their duties" during the botched exit from Afghanistan.

Members of the group, who describe themselves as "retired U.S. generals and admirals defending the Constitution," also wrote Austin and Milley must be held accountable for their actions that have stranded hundreds of Americans and Afghan allies in hostile territory as "de facto hostages of the Taliban."

The generals also argued Austin and Milley should have counseled President Biden against the swift exit from the region and resigned in protest if he did not abide by their recommendation.

"A fundamental principle in the military is holding those in charge responsible and accountable for their actions or inactions. There must be accountability at all levels for this tragic and avoidable debacle," wrote the group.

"Conversely, if they did do everything within their ability to persuade the CINC/President to not hastily exit the country without ensuring the safety of our citizens and Afghans loyal to America, then they should have resigned in protest as a matter of conscience and public statement."

I personally think that resigning after such a major screw up would be the honorable thing to do.

On this one YMMV depending on your personal politics, but it seemed worth sharing and I was kind of surprised I hadn't seen a thread yet.

I agree. Something this bad should have never happened. The top generals running this and Biden should all resign/ be out of a job.


They have caused many people, including many Americans, and American service members to die, made the US look weak on a national scale, and seemed not to care at all..

Biden is a complete failure of a President. He is literally the worst President in American history and it has only been 7 months...

I hope people protest this BS that is going on...

I’m just glad we are out of that ****hole. **** Afghans we gave them 20 years of training and equipment etc and TRILLIONS of dollars and thousands of American lives and they didn’t do **** to protect themselves. If they don’t give a **** about fighting the taliban then why should we?

They obviously don’t care about being led by them and didn’t want us there in the first place. I give 0 ****s about that mountainous ****hole of a country at this point.

The overwhelming majority wanted to leave Afghanistan. The overwhelming majority didnt want to leave in such a potato fashion....

Even if you cut out the human factor (US/Afghan citizens) the sheer stupidity of "gifting" BILLIONS of hardware and arming a generation of jihadist cant be measured.

If there are people that truly dont think this is going to blowback on America, its interests and its allies in the most awful ways, they are completely lost.

How many Russian citizens did they leave behind exactly? How many billions in military equipment did they provide their enemy on withdrawal?
